From Roussillon to Salaise
A visit to a built or historical heritage site, beautiful views and a varied route.
Circular loop between Roussillon and Le Gué d'Agnin
Explore the Roussillon leisure area and its pond. Walk along the Edit trails. Cross the River Sanne via a footbridge to avoid the ford. Please note that part of the return journey runs alongside the D131C road. This route is not suitable for those who dislike tarmac roads.
Trails of the Edict of Roussillon
The town of Roussillon has created a network of trails named “de l’édit” in memory of the edict issued in 1564 in Roussillon, which established1 January as the start of the year throughout France. These trails are perfect for family walks, with no difficulty, no elevation gain and very little tarmac. They pass through apple orchards and quite varied landscapes. The names of the trails are indicated on signs put up by the town of Roussillon.
From Sablons to the north of Île de la Platière
A beautiful, easy hike on Île de la Platière that is a feast for the eyes.
The inland area is a protected natural zone. Don't forget to read the signs in this area and their explanations.

The heights of Limony and the Limony valley
An easy hike starting from the village of Limony. Once you have climbed to the top, weather permitting, you will have a beautiful view of the Alps to the east. The return journey will take you along the Limony.
Assieu-Chavanay
Tenth stage of the Way of St James. This stage will take you to Chavanay on the banks of the Rhône. The final stage before the Massif Central, the route offers several alternatives between theGR® and the paths marked by the Jacquaires associations. Be sure to stay on theGR®65to avoid unnecessary detours. This may not be the most pleasant part of the route, but certain sections, such as Condrieu, are well worth a visit.
Around Chezenas
A walk starting from Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf that takes you past vineyards and orchards on the hills around Chezenas.
Circulars through vineyards and orchards starting from Saint-Pierre-de-Bœuf
A gentle hike on the slopes of the Pilat massif. You will pass through orchards and vineyards with views of the Rhône and the foothills of the Vercors.
The valleys of the Sanne
A lovely, varied walk through the valleys surrounding the Sanne, on the edge of the Rhône valley. It offers beautiful views and passes by two pretty chapels.
Please note! This walk is not recommended on days with heavy rain, as there are three fords to cross.
The surroundings of Anjou
Discover the mansions and castles of the village of Anjou, enjoy the 360° panoramic views, walk up the bed of a dry stream that has left its traces of erosion in the tuff. Return through the forest to find the clear views of the ridges before descending back to Anjou.
Please note that this hike is not possible during heavy rainfall, as the stream bed used would no longer be dry.
Route of castles around Anjou
Around the village of Anjou, you will pass the entrances to several châteaux that dot the route.
The medieval village of Malleval and the diversity of its surroundings
Start by exploring a botanical cactus trail, then climb up to the cemetery and enjoy the view.
Follow the cool Épervier stream upstream.
Discover wooded paths followed by sunny trails with superb 360° views, then descend through the vineyards.
Finish by discovering the Saut de Laurette.
Return via the old village (church, salt storehouse, former commandery) and the trails.
The Rhône River from Sablons to Serrières via Peyraud
Discovering the banks of the Rhône. The route passes along the left and right banks via the Peyraud SNCF bridge. It introduces us to the river's developments, its floods, and its flora and fauna. Graduated markers indicate the various flood levels along the way.
From the village of Malleval to the village of Roisey
This is an easy hike between the village of Roisey and Malleval. At the start of the hike, you can see the Saut de Lorette waterfall when there is water in winter and, on the way back, before arriving in Malleval, you will pass through the woods along the Ruisseau de l'Épervier stream, which will provide welcome refreshment if you are hiking in summer.

Malleval and the Rhône hillsides
This short walk will allow you to enjoy the beautiful medieval village of Malleval (in the golden light of early morning if you set off at sunrise, which is recommended) before venturing into the wine-growing hillsides.
The distance is moderate, but expect some elevation gain (a fairly steep descent followed by a climb) during the first half of the route, as you make your way down to Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf from the top of the hills, before climbing back up through the vineyards.
The heights of Serrières
A short, easy walk offering beautiful panoramic views of the Île de la Platière Nature Reserve, the Rhône and the vineyards.
On the heights of Serrières
This hike will take you to the heights overlooking the Rhône valley around the village of Serrières. Clear paths offering beautiful views of the Rhône valley and the Alps, and pleasant wooded paths will follow one another throughout the route. The start of the walk will take you through the old village of Serrières, which is well worth a detour.
Along the Rhône in Chavanay
A stroll to enjoy the fresh air along the banks of the Rhône. There is no elevation gain; the path runs alongside the Viarhôna, the cycle route from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean, before returning inland. The banks of the Rhône at this point are densely vegetated. It is a peaceful, easy walk.
La Chapelle-de-Surieu Circular
This walk takes you through the countryside towards La Chapelle-de-Surieu. A few tarmac roads with little traffic. At the top, sweeping views of the Monts du Pilat on one side and the Vercors range on the other. Meadows and cultivated fields. Please note: there is a ford across the Sanne; avoid this during periods of high water.
Chavanay - Bourg-Argental
Eleventh stage of the Way of St James. This stage is the first in the Massif Central and crosses the Pilat Regional Nature Park. In the foothills of the Rhône Valley, it allows you to gain some altitude.
From Chavanay to Malleval
Walk through the orchards of Chavanay. Best done in April when the fruit trees are in bloom. As a bonus, you'll see the charming village of Malleval and the Epervier valley.

Village of Bogy from Peyraud
Walk in the hills around Peyraud and Serrières. The climb up the Crémieux stream valley will take you to the small village of Bogy. The hike offers numerous viewpoints overlooking the Rhône valley and the Alps, visibility permitting.
Circular between La Ribaudy and Pélussin
The route of this hike will take you from the hamlet of La Ribaudy to the village of Pélussin. Sometimes along wooded paths, sometimes across fields, you will reach the valley of the Rivière du Régrillon. You will cross the Pélussin Viaduct, the former Tacot railway line.
Bessey and its mysteries
An easy route to discover some of the attractions of the commune of Bessey in the Pilat Regional Nature Park.
Route from La Fon de l'Écouelle to Saint-Alban-de-Varèze
A walk that takes place mostly on small paved roads. It alternates between different landscapes: woods and fields. There are no difficulties to be feared except for a steep hill at the beginning of the walk.
From Verlieux in the municipality of Peyraud to the hamlets of Bogy
Stunning views over the Rhône valley, but also inland towards the remarkable valleys and plateaus.
This is a unique route as it has very little elevation gain in this part of the Ardèche, alternating between fields and woods several times. It can also be shortened to 7.6 km for afternoon hikers in winter.

WARNING! A hiker has warned me to take great care, following heavy rain, as the section along the stream is very difficult.
I advise hikers to wait four or five days after the rain before undertaking this hike.
Ascent of the Col du Fayet from Félines
This hike will take you to the Col du Fayet via the paths, starting from the small village of Félines.
Between the plateau and the valley at the start of Les Roches-de-Condrieu
A very pretty little tour that allows you to discover the Rhône Valley and Pilat from a slightly different perspective than usual.
The hike is very accessible, even in bad weather. A good part of it is on tarmac roads.
Les Roches Saint-Prim Pré Margot
Easy route: Saint-Clair-les-Roches, the village of Saint-Prim, Pré Margot, Les Roches de Condrieu.
Jardin du Bois Marquis
A short walk through the hamlet of Saint-Mamert and the forest takes you to the charming Jardin du Bois Marquis. This magnificent garden, beautiful in all seasons, is open to the public free of charge seven days a week. Here you can admire collections of plants and trees, as well as a pond where all kinds of brightly coloured ducks frolic. It is classified as a "remarkable garden" and has won awards.
Montgay on the heights of Vernioz
A short, unpretentious and easy walk to explore the countryside and woodlands along stony paths. Lovely views of the Alps and the Pilat Massif.
On the heights of Condrieu, starting from Vérin
An easy walk in the countryside on the heights around Condrieu. This hike offers beautiful views of the Rhône valley and the Pilat mountains.
From Combalat to Bois de Chapellan via Beauregard in Félines
This is a short hike that complements the Ravin de Haut Gaillard hike, which starts from the same place. Short circular in the countryside starting from Reventin
Starting from the small village of Reventin, you will make a circular route through the countryside and the hills overlooking the Rhône valley in places.
The village of Reventin-Vaugris and the Gerbole valley
Starting from the village of Reventin-Vaugris, through the countryside and woods, the paths on this hike will take you through the valley where a small stream, the Gerbole, flows. From small bridge to small bridge, you will walk through wild areas above this stream.
The Balconies of Champagne
A lovely walk from the beautiful church in Champagne, taking in the abbey, the old railway line, the Roman bridge and the vineyards of Saint-Joseph.
The Bois de Chapellon from Peaugres
A very pleasant walk through the countryside and forest with panoramic views of the Rhône valley and the Alps. The route is on good paths with an easy climb. The route is fully marked in either red/yellow or white/yellow.
The Mont Chaud loop
An easy walk with views of the Rhône valley and the Alps on a clear day.
Over ridges and crosses in the Pilat Mountains
Discover some of the crests and passes, often marked with a cross, on this part of the eastern slope of the Pilat Massif. This large circular route passes through Crêt de Quatregrains, Crêt de Montivert, Croix de Monvieux, Croix du Mazet, Croix du Cerisier, Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez, and Crêt de Baronnette.Route change between (3) and (4). Tour of Mont Ministre and Mont Monnet
The hike combines the Odouard and Jean-Jacques Rousseau trails, starting from Chuyer. The first part, to the south-east, on the Odouard trail, offers beautiful views of the Rhône valley. At the Col de Grenouze, the small loop takes you up to Mont Monnet: orientation table, beautiful view in good weather over the valley, the Vercors and the Alps (Mont Blanc). Forest paths then follow the Jean-Jacques Rousseau trail to the Col de Pavezin, and return via the Odouard trail.
Short walk starting from Chuyer
A pleasant, easy walk starting from Chuyer cemetery. Panoramic views of Mont Blanc and the Vercors. Lovely views of Mont Pilat. Very rural paths.
A viewpoint overlooking the Chartreuse de Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez
With easy and quick access from the A7 motorway coming from Lyon, La Chapelle-Villars is an ideal starting point for exploring the Pilat Massif. This route takes you to Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez and offers a beautiful view of the Chartreuse from the heights of Sainte-Croix.
