Park in front of the church and town hall. If the square is not accessible due to the market, you can park in front of the cemetery as the walk passes by it.
(S/E) Walk back down to Rue Centrale, cross it and take Route de l'Égalité just opposite. Walk past the cemetery and continue along this tarmac road until you find an unpaved road on the right called Chemin du Fond de la Somme.
(1) Turn right. At the next crossroads, turn left and walk past the poultry buildings. You are now on Chemin des Bierats. At the next crossroads with a signpost, continue straight ahead up the path until you reach the tarmac road to Savas.
(2) A signpost indicates that you should turn right towards the Chapellon Forest. Take this tarmac road and turn right again at the next crossroads onto Route de Daumas. Continue along this road until you reach the Bégut farm. The view is magnificent, with Peaugres below, the Rhône valley further away and the Alps in the distance.
(3) Turn left onto the dirt track (Chemin des Réservoirs) which climbs steeply in zigzags. At the second bend, be careful not to continue straight on towards the antenna, but turn left (Chemin de l'Église Écroulée). The third bend has an orientation table.
(4) Turn right and head into the forest until you reach a crossroads with several paths. You are now at the highest point of the walk (altitude 613). A signpost indicates several directions.
(5) Turn right onto Chemin de Combala, which descends towards Ravin de Haut Gaillard. Cross the stream and follow the main path, which is almost flat and turns to the right. Do not take the path that goes straight up or the one that descends to the right towards Chemin du Petit Roi. Continue until you reach another signpost.
(6) Follow Chemin du Roi des Bois on the right, which descends very quickly. Further down, at the crossroads, you will find the other end of Chemin du Petit Roi, which you encountered earlier. Turn left to continue the descent. Soon the path becomes tarmac. Turn right at the first crossroads and go down Route de Maclan, which crosses the hamlet.
(7) Pay attention, as you need to turn right between the houses. The path is not very visible, as it looks like you are entering a property. There are concrete rails on the ground to facilitate the passage of vehicles. When you reach the gate, you will see a small path on the left that runs along a stone wall and passes between the properties. The path turns at a right angle to the left: do not continue straight ahead on the small path, but go down to the left on the path that widens. Once you have passed the stream, the path turns left and you will find yourself back on tarmac. Continue downhill to a crossroads and turn left towards Besse.
(8) At the first crossroads in Besse, turn right. Follow Route de Besse downhill until you cross the Bourgon stream. The road then levels out.
(9) Turn left onto Rue du Fond de la Somme, then continue along Rue Paul Bourget. Cross Rue Centrale, take the street opposite, then turn right towards the church to return to the car park (S/E).
