Park on Avenue du Rhône by the jetty, next to an area with wooden tables and a covered shelter.
(S/E) Head towards the Rhône, crossing over the canal, then go and see the viewpoint overlooking the river at the old bridge, of which only the pillars remain. From there, head north, either via the tarmac road of Viarhôna or along the dirt track beside the canal.
(1) Let’s take the dirt track. Follow the canal, keeping an eye out for the wooden ‘Jassous’ signs, which, much further on, suggest you head back up to the Viarhôna via a very short path.
(2) Continue due north on the cycle route. A few hundred metres further on, a new dirt track on the right, marked with a “Jassous” sign, invites you to leave the Viarhôna. Follow the Rhône. The Viarhôna winds through the vegetation. As you approach the chemical plants at Saint-Clair-du-Rhône on the opposite bank, you’ll come to a dirt track on the left.
(3) Take this track, heading due west; it crosses the Viarhôna and then the canal, reaching a small tarmac road which you take to the left. Follow this road until it meets the Route du Grand Val, which you take to the right. Please be careful, as this is a small, busy road which you will be on for a few dozen metres.
(4) Take the dirt track on the left just after the 30 km/h speed limit sign. Follow it until it reaches a tarmac road. Cross over and continue along the track until you reach a metal mast. A wooden sign marked ‘Chavanay’ directs you to turn left.
(5) Head in this direction along the path that runs alongside a chicken farm and joins the tarmac road, Avenue du Rhône, where you have parked. Turn right and continue due south to your parking spot (S/E).
