Chavanay - Bourg-Argental

(S) Start from the Parc de Joutes Nautiques. Walk along the lake, then turn right onto Rue de la Chirat, then Rue de la Chorerie. At the end of the street, turn right onto Rue de la Ribaudy

(1) Turn left onto a footpath and head towards the hamlet of La Ribaudy.

(2) Walk through the hamlet, cross the Mornieux stream and continue along the^GR®65. Cross the D79 with care and continue towards the village of Bessey. Ignore the small tarmac road and take the path on the right. Continue to the Ruisseau du Moulin.

(3) Cross the stream and continue to the village of Bessey.

(4) Walk through the hamlet and continue towards Roisey. Turn left to follow a stony path marked with the Way of St James signs, then take a road to the hamlet of Goëly.

(5) Cross this hamlet and continue following the signposts through a landscape of fruit orchards. Cross the D19.

(6) Turn left, ignoring the^PR® markings, and continue to the Le Buisson lodge.

(7) Carry on, pass the hamlet of Chez Paret and arrive at the junction of the^GR®65and the PR^®.

(8) Continue straight on to the hamlet of Le Vialon (Please note: contrary to what is shown on the map, the^GR® 65 goes straight on here).

(9) Turn right onto the Route de Bazin. Pass through the hamlet of Bazin and continue on to the hamlet of Pourzin.

(10) Continue to the hamlet of Mérigneux.

(11) Carry on to the right along the Route de la Branche heading west. Pass the Les Blandines stopover lodge.

(12) Head right up a short hill to reach the hamlet of La Combe Noire.

(13) Continue south and pass through the hamlet of Le Chatagnard.

(14) At the T-junction, take the grassy path signposted ‘Chemin de Compostelle’ and you’ll come out onto a road.

(15) At the signpost, turn right.

(16) Turn left onto Route du Plateau Marchand. At the end of the street, turn left then right onto Rue Vieille (one-way) in the village of Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette. Walk past the church. At the junction with Avenue de Colombier, you can stock up on supplies at the Vival shop on the right.

(17) Cross the avenue carefully, pass the Garage Central and continue along the Montée des Anges, then follow the grassy path westwards to the hamlet of Lampony.

(18) Turn south until you reach the Route de Saint-Julien at the Col du Banchet.

(19) First turn left then right onto the road, then turn immediately left onto Chemin des Grillotières. Continue on to the village of Bourg-d'Argental.

(20) At the junction with the Annonay road, turn right then left in front of the Total petrol station to reach the Camping Municipal de L'Astrée (E).

Refreshments available at point (17) in Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette, and in Bourg-Argental (E) 500 m from the campsite.
