Circular loop between Roussillon and Le Gué d'Agnin

Explore the Roussillon leisure area and its pond. Walk along the Edit trails. Cross the River Sanne via a footbridge to avoid the ford. Please note that part of the return journey runs alongside the D131C road. This route is not suitable for those who dislike tarmac roads.

Description of the walk

Leisure area car park.

(S/E) Walk up alongside the pond, skirting it on the right. After the pond, continue uphill until you reach Chemin de Trémonte.

(1) Turn right and follow this path, which crosses the Chemin des Sources and leads to the Chemin des Chasseurs.

(2) Continue straight on until you reach Chemin de la Forêt.

(3) Turn left onto Chemin des Perdreaux.

(4) Turn right until you reach the junction with Chemin des Gouttes. Turn left onto the tarmac road, Chemin de la Sanne, and follow it to the right until you reach the start of a grassy path on the left. Watch out for traffic.

(5) Take this path and follow it as it turns right until you reach a very small tarmac road, which you take to the left. The road descends until it crosses the Sanne ford. A footbridge allows you to cross without getting your feet wet.

(6) Follow the small road uphill to the first grassy path on the right, which continues to climb. At the top, leave this path and take a small track on the left.

(7) The path climbs up to the tarmac Route de l’Étang. Follow it to the right until you reach the junction with the D131C. Please note that this is a road with traffic.

(8) Follow this D131C road to the right; it crosses a road on the left and passes over a bridge over the Sanne, then a junction with the tarmac-surfaced Chemin de la Sanne. Continue to the Chemin des Chasseurs on the right.

(9) Turn right onto it and follow it up to the junction with the Chemins de Terrebasse and the Chemin de la Forêt. Continue straight on to the Chemin de Trémont.

(2) Follow the route back along the same path as on the way out, continuing to the left until you reach the pond; go round it on the right and you will arrive at the car park (S/E).

A lovely little walk for a beginner like me. Beautiful fields of poppies.
Be careful between points 8 and 9 – it’s a major road with fast-moving traffic, and the verge isn’t suitable for walking.
