Trails of the Edict of Roussillon

The town of Roussillon has created a network of trails named “de l’édit” in memory of the edict issued in 1564 in Roussillon, which established1 January as the start of the year throughout France. These trails are perfect for family walks, with no difficulty, no elevation gain and very little tarmac. They pass through apple orchards and quite varied landscapes. The names of the trails are indicated on signs put up by the town of Roussillon.

Description of the walk

Park in the small lay-by at the start of Chemin des Chasseurs.

(S/E) Follow this dirt track due north until you reach the first junction of paths.

(1) Turn left until you reach Chemin des Sources, which you follow to the right. The path descends until it meets the small tarmac road known as Chemin des Perdreaux.

(2) Follow it to the right, heading uphill to a house. The road then turns into an unpaved sunken track. You’ll come to an area of very flat fields.

(3) At the junction, take Chemin des Chasseurs on the left and you will come to another tarmac road called Chemin des Cerisiers. Follow it to the right, passing a few houses, then on the right you will cross the grassy Chemin des Lièvres.

(4) Follow it until it meets the Chemin de la Forêt, which you take to the right. Cross an apple orchard until you reach the Chemin des Perdreaux, which you follow to the left until the next junction with the Chemin des Gouttes.

(5) Turn right and continue until you reach the Chemin de la Forêt, where you turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
