Plazac Circular Route
Moving from sun to shade. The commune of Plazac, home to twenty-five nationalities, remains the land of the “croquants”, peasants from the South-West who rebelled in the 16th and 17th centuries. Nestled in the Périgord Noir, near the Barade Forest, it was also a centre of the Resistance. During your walks, you will come across or catch a glimpse of numerous paths and tracks known as “shortcuts” which, not so long ago, linked the farms together.

The Rouffignac tour

This very easy (green) circular takes you around Rouffignac-St-Cernin, a village in the Vézère valley in the heart of the Périgord Noir region of the Dordogne. It offers a beautiful view of the Château de Cheylard.
Panoramic view of the Vézère
This hike takes you up to a higher elevation with a beautiful view of the Vézère River, and also allows you to discover two sites:
- La Roque Saint-Christophe, troglodyte dwellings in a limestone cliff one kilometre long and sixty metres high,
- and the village of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.
Circular via Rouffignac and L'Herm

This challenging circular mainly takes you to Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin, a village in the Vézère Valley, the hamlet of Château de l'Herm, the village of Plazac and the superb viewpoint of the Côte de Jor, classified as a Natura 2000 site.
Circular via Rouffignac and Le Moustier
This very difficult circular, in the heart of the Vézère valley in the Périgord Noir, offers the chance to discover mainly the village of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac, close to the Grotte aux Cent Mammouths (Cave of a Hundred Mammoths), then Tursac with the sites of La Madeleine and the Maison Forte de Reignac. Next comes the village of Peyzac Le Moustier with the troglodytic site of La Roque Saint-Christophe and finally Plazac with its beautiful viewpoint.

On the northern slope of the Vézère, this route offers panoramic views of the Vézère valley and the Sarladais region. Several springs and wash houses line this route, which also boasts abundant and diverse flora.

Barade National Forest Loop
A long, peaceful hike in the Barade National Forest (barradaen occitan: closed): calm, wind in the branches, birdsong... It mainly follows firebreaks, with few roads. Moderate elevation gain.
Crabillac circular
This hilly route takes the beautiful Chemin de la Peyrière, which offers splendid views of the valley, the village of Tursac and the Château de Marzac. It then crosses the hills to reach the narrow Beune Valley.
Tursac Cingle Circular Loop
Starting from Tursac, this circular route winds its way through woodland and open countryside, offering beautiful views of the Vézère gorge. The route also offers a panoramic view of the troglodyte village of La Madeleine, clinging to the cliff, before returning to the pleasant shade of the woods. Along the way, pretty chestnut trees punctuate the walk and enhance the peaceful charm of this typical Périgord Noir route.
Circular mountain bike route – Château de Commarque – Camping Ferme de La Brauge
A lovely mountain bike ride that passes by the foot of Commarque Castle.Most of the route follows forest tracks, with lovely single tracks, and very few roads.The ride does not present any major technical difficulties, but there are a few steep climbs.Allow 1½ to 2 hours depending on your ability.The ride follows several routes with different markings, so it is advisable to follow the GPS track.Message from the moderators: During Château de Commarque’s opening hours, a €2 per person fee is charged to cross the property (to contribute to site maintenance).Mountain bikers may pass through free of charge outside these opening hours. This very easy circular mainly takes you around Montignac-Lascaux, a pretty village in the Vézère Valley. You will pass the famous Lascaux Cave and its facsimile, as well as the Neanderthal site at Régourdou.

This very difficult circular takes you to the village of Montignac-Lascaux, famous for its cave, and Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.
In terms of difficulty, there is a series of alternating ascents and descents. It is fairly fast-paced and the end allows you to recover.

Circular of La Ferrassie
Starting from the village of Savignac de Miremont, enjoy a circular route that alternates between small country roads and forest paths and admire the exceptional architectural heritage of the village and the various hamlets along the way. You will also pass right by the prehistoric site of La Ferassie.

Often described as the World Capital of Prehistory, the commune of Les Eyzies boasts a significant number of prehistoric sites within a few kilometres. This walk takes you close to these sites and archaeological deposits, allowing you to discover the rich heritage of these places.
The 7 Towers Circular Route
A magnificent view over the Vézère Valley. This shaded circular route around Les Eyzies de Tayac is easily accessible for families. Explore the hamlet of Tayac and its fortified church, then take a stroll through the forest along a path overlooking the rocks and the Vézère.
Boucle de Gorge d'Enfer
C'est l'une des plus belles randonnées à faire autour des Eyzies-de-Tayac. Elle permet de profiter de la fraîcheur des sous-bois et offre une vue étonnante sur les falaises des Eyzies.
Boucle de la Mouthe
Une promenade au milieu des buis et des chênes verts au dessus du village des Eyzies. Cette petite boucle ombragée autour des Eyzies de Tayac peut être facilement parcourue en famille. Un sentier boisé escarpé rejoint le charmant hameau de la Mouthe, qui renferme la grotte du même nom (inaccessible à la visite).

Callabout loop in Marquay
During this hike, you will discover a hilly, wooded area dotted with hamlets that bear witness to a rich farming history. The forest, composed of oak, hornbeam and chestnut trees, offers a rich palette of colours. Here and there, small islands of meadow add to this mosaic.
