Barade National Forest Loop

Park in the car park next to Bars church. Information signs about the town's walking routes.

(S/E) With your back to the church, head towards "Boucle à travers la Barade" (Loop through La Barade) via Route de la Vieille Tour, which passes in front of the Accordion and Harmonium Museum.

(1) At the Bars exit sign, take the path on the left. At the bottom of a small valley, pass a pond on your left and continue straight ahead until you reach a road.

(2) Turn right, leaving the junction for Fanlac and Plazac opposite, and join a larger road, Route des Crêtes.

(3) Cross it carefully and take the path opposite. At the road, after Bos de Costas, turn right.

(4) Turn left into Impasse de Belle Sole. At the first house, continue straight ahead on the path towards "Moulin de la Ganne". A little further on, after the junction with the GR®36 (white and red markings), leave Carsac on your left and Chambord on your right and continue straight ahead.

(5) At the next T-junction, leave the GR® opposite and turn right. Then leave a track that turns to the right and continue straight down to Moulin de la Ganne.

(6) Take the road on the right, cross the Ruisseau du Vimont and leave Chemin de Peyrat and the direction "Chez Brunet" on your left.

(7) Leave the road and turn left onto the DFCI track, heading towards "Les Landes de la Salvetat". At the bottom of the valley, at a three-way junction, keep to the right. At the D31 road, turn right and continue with caution for about 200 m.

(8) Take the track on the left towards "Le Grandval". At the hamlet of Grandval, the track becomes a small tarmac road. Follow it to the crossroads, then turn right and leave a DFCI track on your left.

(9) Immediately afterwards, turn right onto the FOSSE 05 firebreak track, which runs alongside a stream and leads to Route de la Forêt Barade.

(10) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on the FOSSE 03 firebreak track.

(11) Leave the track, which continues to the left, and take the dirt track opposite. Shortly afterwards, at a three-way junction that leads back to the left onto the track, continue right on the same track.

(12) At a crossroads, turn right onto a path that goes uphill. Continue straight ahead. At the junction with the D31, turn right and follow it carefully for about a hundred metres.

(13) Take the track that branches off to the left towards "La Tuilière". At the end of the woods, at a T-junction, continue left, then leave a track on your right that leads to a house.

(14) Turn right onto the next path that runs alongside the telephone wires. At the road, turn left (Chemin de la Tuilière), leaving Impasse de Puypautier opposite. Then leave the tarmac road that leads into the woods on your right and continue straight ahead on a carriageway that descends to a road.

(15) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead and, at the end of the path, turn left onto the road.

(16) At the junction with a larger road, Route des Crêtes, continue right with caution.

(17) After the sign for "Le four de Marty", turn left towards "Les Broussas, Bars" and you will arrive at the sign for the entrance to Bars.

(1) Continue along the same route as on the way there until you reach the car park at Bars church (S/E).
