Former capital of the Sylvanectes Gauls, Senlis was known as Augustomagus in the 1st century, during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius. From the 3rd century onwards, thanks to its walls, the Gallo-Roman enclosure of Senlis was one of the best-preserved in northern Gaul. The date of construction has still not been determined. What remains certain, as was already established in the 19th century, is that the fortifications were built after the passage of the Germanic hordes in 275–276, and after the year 278, withstanding the barbarian invasions and later the Norman raids. Senlis boasts a history spanning ten centuries of virtually uninterrupted royal presence. The town was the site of a Merovingian and later Carolingian castle or palace from the early Middle Ages onwards; although it has completely disappeared and there is no definitive archaeological evidence, it is mentioned in numerous ancient deeds and documents.

In the9th and 10th centuries, the abbey was an important pilgrimage centre within the sphere of influence of Aachen, the capital of the Empire. In the 11th and 12th centuries, a fortified town developed around the monastery, giving rise to the present-day town of Jouarre .

Dammartin-en-Goële was the seat of a county that fell to Antoine de Chabannes, companion of Joan of Arc, through his marriage in 1439 to Marguerite de Nanteuil, heiress to the county of Dammartin. Circular starting from Dammartin, passing through two villages, parks, rural paths, a stretch of forest, three churches and small passages in built-up areas.

Short walk in the Halatte National Forest from Fleurines via Mont Pagnotte and the hamlet of Saint Christophe. The former priory of Saint-Christophe is now the main feature of Fleurines' architectural heritage and is listed as a historic monument . The commune also boasts a rich natural and landscape heritage and is part of a natural area of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest (ZNIEFF). Since its creation in 2004, Fleurines has also been part of the Oise Pays de France Regional Nature Park.

In 1140 , Ascelin, known as "the Hermit", lord of Marly-la-Ville , left his castle in Marly and retired to this then inhospitable place (locum horroris et vaste solituninis) called Herremivallis, the hermit's valley. He already owned part of the land, and the Counts of Beaumont and Clermont willingly ceded the rest to him. Joined by other companions, they cleared the land located in a wooded depression forming a valley through which several springs flowed, and founded the Abbey of Hérivaux.

Short walk in the Bois de Montjay and along the Dhuys Aqueduct. Montjay-la-Tour has been incorporated into the municipality of Villevaudé. The aqueduct is an underground structure that captures part of the water from the Dhuis (or Dhuys), a small 21.43 km long tributary of the Marne andAisne rivers, which flows into the Surmelin.

Indeed, General Foch moved his command post to Bombon in 1918. His marshal’s baton ‘was presented to him in the castle’s main courtyard in the presence of all the chiefs of staff, Marshal Haig, Marshal Pershing, General Pétain and the highest political authorities, the President of the Republic, Raymond Poincaré, Clemenceau […], Painlevé, former Minister of War and former President of the Council. General Weygand […] was by his side.”

The shops there are splendid, well-stocked, but somewhat expensive. In bad weather, like the Palais-Royal, they serve as promenades and meeting places. They are generally lit by gas.

A short walk in the Ermenonville Forest, starting from the car park on Route du Boisdhyver, not far from Ver-sur-Launette. On very hot days, it is best to go in the morning; there is a picnic area at the end of the walk, or in Ver-sur-Launette there is a good restaurant on Place de la Mairie and a selection of shops.
