Description of the walk

Car park and start of the walk: Place de La Fontaine, Mauperthuis 77

(S/E) As you leave the car park, turn right. Cross Rue Montesquiou (D402) with care and, at the first Fork in the road, turn left into Rue Bel Air.

(1) At the end of the street, on the corner by the church, turn into Rue du Pré Denis. Cross Rue Montesquiou (D402)carefully once more and continue straight on.

(2) At the next junction, go straight on and pass the town hall. You will come to a junction on a right-hand bend.

(3) Then turn left into Rue du Pressoir and immediately left again into Rue du Saussois. When the road curves to the right, turn left onto a track. Carry on straight ahead, past the Moulin d’Épaillard, until you reach the tarmac road again.

(4) Turn left onto Rue du Saussois and cross the Aubetin. At the end of the street, turn right onto Rue de Sainte-Aubierge and follow the Aubetin on your right. Pass the hamlet of Les Ébards. At the next buildings, turn left to reach the Sainte-Aubierge Chapel straight away (spring, wash house).

(5) Follow a path on the left (south then south-west). Cross Rue de l’Obélisque (D25) with care, continue along the path opposite and enter the forest.

(6) You’ll come out onto a wide track, the Route de la Haute Borne, and turn left (Red Cross House). Take the Route Foprestère de Montmirail on the left and follow it straight on; at the junction, cross the Route de l’Essart and continue to the Carrefour Hocquard.

(7) Turn right onto the Route Royale and, a little further on, join the PR® on the right (with a spring on the left). Follow it to the junction and turn left, then, a little further on, left again onto the Route de la Haute Borne. At the T-junction, turn left onto the Route de la Tour de Lumigny and continue to the Carrefour de Beaulieu.

(8) Take the first right onto the Route Forestière Royale. Pass the Mare du Haricot on your right and continue north-west to the Carrefour de l’Étoile.

(9) Turn sharply right onto Route forestière de Marganat. Then take the first track on the left, heading due north.

(10) At the end, turn left. Shortly afterwards, take the first track on the right.

(11) Turn onto the first path on the right (GRP® de la Brie Verte, marked in red and yellow). Wind your way through the woodland and cross two clearings.

(12) At the junction, go straight on, leaving the GRP®. Continue straight on, crossing six clearings until you reach a crossroads

(13) Turn right. Join the (GRP® de la Brie Verte, marked in red and yellow) and follow it straight ahead.

(14) At the T-junction, Les Trois Carrefours (picnic area with sheltered tables and benches), turn left, leaving the GRP®

(15) At the junction, join the GRP® and follow it straight on.

(16) First turn left then right to cross the D25 road with care and continue along a path (GRP®). Pass a stud farm on your right. At the junction, turn right and you’ll immediately come out onto Rue de Brie.

(17) Cross the road and continue straight on, leaving the GRP®; carry on straight until you reach the junction with Rue Sainte Aubierge and turn right

(18) Turn left onto the GRP® to cross the road and cross the main branch of the Aubetin. Continue straight ahead along a path and cross another branch of the Aubetin.

(19) Cross Rue des Coteaux with care and continue straight on along Rue d’Esse.

(20) At the next junction, turn right onto Chemin du Brulis. Immediately pass a path on your left and continue south.

(21) You’ll come out onto Rue du Pressoir; follow it to the left until you reach a junction you passed earlier in the walk.

(3) Turn right and continue straight on along Rue du Parc in the opposite direction to the outward journey. Pass the town hall and cross the Bricot on the right-hand side.

(2) Turn right at the next junction onto Rue des Noyers. At the end, turn left and you’ll immediately reach Place de la Fontaine (S/E).
