Around Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello

Car park and start of the hike at the cemetery in Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello.

(S/E) With your back to the cemetery, turn right towards the Bois de Barisseuse.

(1) At the crossroads, go straight ahead into the woods. At the fork, take the right-hand path, ignore the next crossroads and pass the Saint Nicolas de Barisseuse chapel on your right. At the end, turn left into Hameau de Barisseuse, ignore the first path on the left and at the next one turn left into the woods of the same name, ignoring two crossroads

(2) Take the track on the right, Allée de la Chapelle, exit the woods and ignore two paths on the right, then turn left at the next one. A little further on, turn left at the next crossroads, Chapelle Sainte Anne, turn right, ignore two paths on the left at the end at the cross, turn right, ignore the first crossroads and at the end of Allée de la Chapelle, turn left. You will arrive at Route de Barisseuse.

(3) Turn right, still on Allée de la Chapelle,

(4) When you reach the chapel, continue straight ahead, ignoring the path on the left, until you reach Route de Clermont (D12), which you should cross carefully. Continue straight ahead on CR Voirie de L'Ange. At the crossroads, turn right, cross Ruisseau de Flandre, then continue between Étang de Mélo and another pond, Les Halbrans.

(5) Turn right and walk along the left bank of the Therain (a tributary of the Oise), continue between the Therain and the Étang du Mélo, and turn right at the end of the pond.

(6) Turn left and pass between the Marais de Saint-Claude and a pond, arriving at the RD12 (rue de Mouy).

(7) Cross it carefully and take the^first path on the right.

(8) Turn right onto the main road. Cross the Ruisseau de Flandre, arrive at Rue de Mello and turn right.

(9) In Martincourt, at the crossroads, take the left-hand path, pass a spring and, at the fork, follow the left-hand path. Ignore several paths going uphill, cross a main road and pass some quarries on your right.

(10) Turn left, pass other quarries on your left, cross three junctions and enter the Bois de Bréleux.

(11) Turn right and leave the wooded area at the crossroads. Continue straight on along Route de Barisseuse, leave it at the next path on the left and cross the crossroads (elevation 107).

(12) Turn right and then left onto the next road, cross the next three junctions, pass some quarries and arrive at Rue de la Gueule Flageole.

(13) Turn left onto Rue Henri Carrallet, turn right onto Rue des Carrières, cross Rue de la Commune de Paris carefully and take Route de Cramoisy opposite.

(14) Turn right onto Rue de Crécy, continue to a pond, then turn left and follow the bank on your right, passing the^first path on your left and then the second path on your left further on, then leave the pond by turning left

(15) Cross Rue de la Commune de Paris carefully, continue straight on Rue des Fontaines, pass two wash houses and turn right onto Rue Ernest Blanchi.

(16) Turn left onto Rue de la Paix, pass in front of the church and town hall of Saint-Vaast. Pass the cliffs on your right and return to the car park of the Saint-Vaast cemetery (S/E).
