(S/E) From the Porte Dorée metro exit on the Boulevard Poniatowski side, take the side lane off Avenue Daumesnil towards the Bois de Vincennes; on your left is the Square des Anciens Combattants d'Indochine. Cross Avenue du Général Laperinne and take Avenue François Fresneau (path). Pass the outer ring road, cross the Route de la Ceinture du Lac Daumesnil and arrive at the lake.
(1) Follow the lake shore on your left (Promenade Maurice Boitel), cross the Pont de l’Île de Reuilly, and walk around the island via the Grotte de la Gloriette and the pseudo-Greek temple. Return via the bridge and continue left along the lake.
(2) Turn right towards the Bois de Vincennes and carefully cross Avenue de Saint-Maurice and Route des Batteries, then follow the Ruisseau de Gravelle on your right.
(3) Cross the stream; on your left you’ll see a carved tree, then take Route Aimable on the left and, further on, return to the other bank of the stream. At the junction, take Allée des Buttes on the left and, at the second junction, turn onto the path on the right that runs diagonally.
(4) Turn right onto Route Saint Hubert, then right again towards the Butte aux Canons and climb it to enjoy a view of part of the Paris region. Turn left onto Allée des Quatre Carrefours and right at the next junction. Cross Route de la Belle Étoile and Avenue des Tribunes. You’ll reach an esplanade; go round it on the right.
(5) Turn right onto Route Nouvelle and left at the junction. Join the Ruisseau de Gravelle and follow it on your left. Cross Route de la Tourelle and Route du Pesage, then walk alongside Lac de Gravelle.
(6) Leave the lake on your right with the Vincennes Racecourse on your left, cross Route du Fort de Gravelle with care and enter the Paris Arboretum. Leave it further on by going round a roundabout on the left, then follow Route de la Ferme along a parallel path.
(7) Cross Avenue du Tremblay with care and follow, to the left, a path running parallel to this avenue. Cross Route du Bosquet Mortemart and Route de Merisiers, turn right onto Route de la Porte Noir, then left onto Avenue des Minimes and head towards the lake.
(8) Follow the shore of Lac des Minimes on your left . On your right , in front of the two pavilions belonging to the City of Paris, you will find a wooden dragon sculpture. Continue along the lake shore just before a fountain and three magnificent trees.
(9) Walk there and back to see a magnificent totem pole, continue along Route de la Cascade and cross a stream; further on, walk there and back to Île de la Porte Jaune.
(10) Turn right, cross Avenue de Nogent carefully and turn left at the junction, following Route du Grand Maréchal. Cross Avenue de la Pépinière, join Route du Donjon and follow it to the left. Cross Avenue Fayolle, leaving Route du Donjon, turn diagonally right and join Avenue Foch.
(11) Follow it to the left and turn right onto Cours Marigny. First turn left then right onto Avenue Pierre Brossolette, then turn right onto Rue du Midi. Cross Rue de Montreuil carefully and, on the opposite side, you will arrive at Vincennes RER station (E).
