Around Lumigny, Nesles la Gilberde and Ormeaux

Comprising three villages and three hamlets, this commune is located about 50 kilometres east of Paris. The village of Lumigny is situated at the foot of a sand hill, similar in nature to the Butte de Doue.

Description of the walk

Parking at 24 Grande Rue, near Saint-Pierre Church in Ormeaux.

PR® trail markers

(S/E) With your back to the car park, head down Grande Rue, walk past the school and ignore the crossroads on your right

(1) Turn left, ignoring three paths on the right and left, and arrive at a crossroads. Turn left, pass two crossroads and cross the Yerres.

(2) Continue on to Nesles la Gilberte, crossing the Yerres river.

(3) Walk back and forth to the entrance of the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption and continue right along Rue Ira et Edita Moriss. At the fork in the road, turn left onto Rue du Grand Maronnier, ignore the streets on the left and join the D201 (Rue de la Fortelle).

(4) Cross it carefully and further on, leave Rue de la Dime on your left. When you reach a fork, turn right onto Rue de Bourbeaudoin and immediately afterwards, take a path on the right that runs alongside an animal park. Continue to the D402.

(5) Cross it carefully and follow the path that leads into the Bois de la Touche. Pass two paths on the left.

(6) At the edge of the woods, turn left, cross the hamlet of Champlet and, at a cross (La Grande Épine), turn right and walk alongside Lumigny stadium. Continue along Chemin de Bellevue, which leads to Rue de la Vignotte.

(7) Follow it to the left, pass in front of the church and Lumigny town hall, and turn left onto the path after the town hall, Ruelle du Cimetière. Opposite the cemetery, continue to the right along Rue du Paradis and join the D143.

(8) Follow it to the left and walk carefullyalong the left-hand side of the road for about 700 metres. Cross carefully at point 124 and take the path on the right into Parc de Lumigny, then take the left-hand path at the crossroads.

(10) Turn right, cross the park diagonally and arrive at the D402.

(11) Cross it carefully and take the path opposite. Further on, at the next junction, turn right, ignore thefirst path on the right and continue on the same path which joins the D402.

(12) Follow it to the left, pass thefirst junction and turn left into a cul-de-sac. Pass a wash house and a pond and rejoin the Grande Rue you took on the way there. Turn left and arrive at the car park near the church (S/E).

Villages of Lumigny, Nesles la Gilberde, Ormeaux and the hamlets of Champlet, Le Mée and Rigny.

The Yerres (a tributary of the Seine).

Animal park.

Saint-Pierre Church (1882-1884), where you can admire a stone statue of the Virgin and Child.

Notre-Dame de l'Assomption Church (post-12th century and modified several times).
