Description of the walk

The starting point is the public car park on Avenue du 8 Mai 1945, to the right of the sports complex.

(S/E) Leave the car park and turn left. Follow Avenue du 8 Mai 1945 and go under the railway bridge. Turn immediately left onto Rue Jean Caille and head towards Mitry-Clayes station.

(1) Continue straight ahead between the car parks and ignore thefirst road on the right (Avenue Pablo Picasso).
(2) Take thefirst road on the right, which runs alongside the D212A. When you reach the roundabout with the D212, continue in the second lane on the right and continue until you reach a crossroad.

(3) Turn right then left and walk alongside an active peat bog. Cross the Beuveronne. Ignore the paths that branch off to the right and left and arrive at Saint-Mesmes, Rue Royale. Take thefirst left, Rue Dufour, and reach the church of Saint-Mesmes (12th century).

(4) Turn right onto Grande Rue. At the crossroads, turn left onto Rue Saint Jean, then right onto Rue de Charny.

(5) Take thefirst path on the right (Chemin des Cerisiers). Ignore thefirst path on the left (silo on the left), arrive at the fork, follow Rue des Graviers on the right and at the end take Rue de Charny on the right. Arrive at the foot of Messy Church (12th century).

(6) Continue right onto Rue de l'Église. Cross Rue de Saint-Mesmes and continue straight ahead onto Rue de Moulignon. Ignore thefirst street on the left.

(7) At the bend (cemetery), turn left onto Chemin du Bray. Pass Ru du Gué Poirier, arrive at the edge of the woods and leave the path on the right (you can take this path and come back if you want to take a break: there are benches in Gressy Park around the pond).

(8) Further on, take the footbridge over the railway tracks. Continue along the path to the tarmac Chemin de la Rosée.

(9) Continue to the left and walk on the right-hand side (cycle path) until you reach Rue de la Rosée. N.B. It is possible to cross Rue de la Rosée directly, but the detour suggested below is recommended for pedestrians and cyclists for safety reasons. Turn left towards the Canal de l'Ourq, cross it and go down to the riverbank. Walk along the canal, go under the road and take the Z-shaped footbridge to reach the other bank. Go back up to the road and return via a passage on the left opposite Chemin de la Rosée.
N.B.

(10) Turn left onto the communal path. Please note that lorries use this path. (At weekends, the gate is closed but you can open it to pass through and then close it again afterwards). Cross the large courtyard. Enter the woods further on, exit and walk along the edge. Pass under the high-voltage line, go through a tunnel under the TGV line, ignore a path that branches off to the right further on.
(11) Enter the Mitry Mory Regional Forest on the left, follow this path, turn right at the Fontaine Gravier pond sign and walk around the wetland. Cross a footbridge over the Ru des Cerceaux and follow it on the right. Further on, return to the main path and continue to the forest exit, ignoring two paths on the left.

(12) Continue along Chemin du Bois du Moulin des Marais and ignore the path that branches off to the right. Pass a water treatment plant and a sheep and chicken farm on your right and go through a tunnel under the railway line.

(13) Turn right onto Rue du Petit Vivier, follow it to the end and turn left onto Avenue du 8 Mai 1945. Further on, you will find the (S/E) on your right.

Hello,
Before reaching point 10, the route is closed due to drainage works. You must follow the canal to the
D212 bridge. From point 10 to the bend that turns right north, north, west, the path is muddy and very slippery.
As soon as you pass through the TGV tunnel, you will come to a track that turns right. Leave it behind. Continue straight ahead. Nothing is specified on Géoportail, but there is a muddy path and marshland on your right.
Have a good day,
Claude

Yes, when I planned and mapped out this hike, there were no roadworks, so yes, you can go on Sundays.

After point 10, there was a construction site that was off-limits at the time. I ignored it because it was a Sunday and there were no guard dogs, but it's better to check beforehand because the path was blocked.
Otherwise, I really enjoyed walking on the plain and in the Mitry Mory woods and marsh.

Response to ozogiminy Hello Madam or Sir, I have taken note of your comment regarding the section on the D212 and have added an alternative route to cross Rue de la Rosée directly. However, for safety reasons, it is recommended to use the footbridge, so I have left the version via this footbridge and added your comment regarding the wetland. Thank you for your comments and have a good day.

I tried out this new hike, which is quite similar to the "circular hike in the Plaine de la Goele east of La Beuvronne", which didn't leave a lasting impression on me. It wasn't unpleasant between points 7 and 10, and was quite nice in the Mitry forest, even if the access via the communal path isn't great. Not to mention that you're close to Roissy, so you can't escape the background noise of aeroplanes throughout the walk. The description of the passage under the D212 at Gressy between points 9 and 10 is absurd and incomplete, since before going under the road you have to go back up to the road, cross the bridge over the canal and then go under the road. It's easier to just cross the road! A quick tip so you don't miss the wetland: turn right before a pile of wood at the sign for "etang de la fontaine gravier" (gravel fountain pond).
