This very difficult circular, in the heart of the Vézère valley in the Périgord Noir, offers the chance to discover mainly the village of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac, close to the Grotte aux Cent Mammouths (Cave of a Hundred Mammoths), then Tursac with the sites of La Madeleine and the Maison Forte de Reignac. Next comes the village of Peyzac Le Moustier with the troglodytic site of La Roque Saint-Christophe and finally Plazac with its beautiful viewpoint.

This easy circular offers the chance to discover St-Léon-sur-Vézère, a village in the Dordogne nestled in a bend of the Vézère river. This village is listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France" and is well worth stopping off to stroll through its narrow streets and discover its magnificent12th-century Romanesque church and numerous craft shops.
The castles of Larres and Maine from Saint-Rabier
This loop, mainly through woodland, will take you to some of the Périgord Noir's lesser-known châteaux: Saint-Rabier, Rastignac, Larres and Le-Maine.
A steep climb will take you to the heights of Larres from Taravellou.
The return journey is on a gentler slope through the village of La-Chapelle-Saint-Jean.
There is a bit of tarmac at the start and finish, but overall there are far more paths than roads.
