Description of the walk

The route starts at the junction of Route du Causse and Chemin de la Mare. You can park on the hard shoulder of Route du Causse, which is quiet. Follow the yellow markings.

(S/E) Take Chemin de la Mare towards the top of the hill, which is the highest point of the walk.

(1) After 500 m, turn left at the picnic area. Walk past the truffle fields on the right and continue to the next junction.

(2) Turn left towards a grey shed. Walk through the hamlet of Mirabel Haut. Please note: do not continue straight on along the Allée des Fleurs, but follow La Rue de Mirabel to the left. Then turn right onto the Route des Chevreuils until you reach the Fork in the road.

(3) At a place called Le Planard, follow Route du Pigeonnier on the left and cross the hamlet of Le Chastel (without taking Route du Causse).

(4) On the descent, take Chemin des Baudenes on the left. Follow the track to the next junction.

(5) At the bottom of the valley, at La Fon Boullen, continue straight on along the Chemin des Rocs and enter the village of La Bachellerie. Continue to the stop sign on Rue de la République.

(6) Turn right, pass the town hall, then cross the road carefully to reach Rue des Martyrs (to the left of Place du 30 Mars 1944). At the next Fork in the road, turn left and head down to the bottom of Rue des Martyrs.

(7) At the fire hydrant, turn left into Rue Louis Faucher, then follow Route de la Genèbre.

(8) After this hamlet, on the left, 100 m into the field, you will see a memorial stone linked to the village. Continue to the hamlet of Madeleine.

(9) At the entrance to the hamlet, take the road on the left which goes round a property. Turning left then right, follow Chemin de Lassepierre which climbs into the forest.

(10) At the end of the path, at the top of the hill, turn left onto the Route du Lac. At the entrance to the hamlet known as Le Lac, turn right and follow the Chemin de la Pierre Pendue to the Route des Crêtes.

(11) Turn left onto this road, pass in front of Valette Castle and continue to the D65.

(12) Continue straight ahead along Route du Palin. At the next yellow signpost, first turn left then right to take the path which, a few hundred metres further on, passes to the left of the communal water reservoir and leads to Route du Combalou. Cross with care and follow Chemin de la Mare, which leads to the junction you passed on the way out.

(1) Keep to the left to return to the car park (S/E) in the opposite direction to the outward journey.

A lovely walk with stunning views. Happiness awaits at the end of the trail. You’ll pass through the village, where you can stop for a bite to eat.

A lovely walk. There’s a bit of noise in one section because the A20 motorway runs below. We walked it on a day when there was a lot of traffic, which might explain the noise. Otherwise, there are a few sections without any shade.
