Eure walks

This extremely varied hike will clear your head, open up superb landscapes and tone your calves. From the beautiful Norman village of Les Andelys, you set off for the mountains. At least, that's the impression you get as you walk along the side of the rock on a narrow mule track with spectacular views of the limestone rocks and the Seine. On the way back, you follow the banks of the Seine, gently returning to solid ground.

A lovely walk through the Seine Valley. From the top of the white cliffs, the view of Les Andelys dominated by Château Gaillard is unforgettable. The tall forest you pass through is colonised by ferns and sometimes looks like the beginning of the world as we imagine it.

A pleasant walk from Venables combining passages through woods, along the banks of the Seine, lakes and plains.An easy hike with just a slight incline, enough to offer some very pretty views.

Circuit around the water: lakes, ponds and river. This walk begins by crossing the Seine via a footbridge that passes over the locks and the Poses dam. It then goes around the Lac des Deux Amants and the Lac du Mesnil, where numerous birds, including waterfowl, add to the charm of these lakeside landscapes. Finally, the return to the banks of the Seine takes you past splendid houses built from local stone and faces the chalk cliffs.

Vieux-Port is the smallest commune in the Eure department. It has preserved the characteristic houses of eastern Normandy, half-timbered farmhouses with cob walls and thatched roofs. It is a popular stopover for boaters sailing on the Seine. The hike crosses the village, but also beautiful forests and typical Norman hamlets, and offers beautiful views of the Seine.

This is an easy route, the second part of which is very pleasant in hot weather as it follows the banks of the Avre on theGR®®22. There are various places to stop and picnic by the water.

Discover a multifaceted site located on the banks of a river where the lapping of its various branches reveals the remains of mills that were once very common here. The hillsides offer magnificent views of the Eure and Iton valleys. Explore the forest where some unusual inhabitants await you, whether animal or plant, such as certain trees with outstretched branches.

An easy hike around Bec-Hellouin, through forest and old monuments: old houses, an abbey and a monastery.

Starting from Bouquelon church, take a long descent along a wooded path, then follow the Route des Chaumières along the Marais Vernier, finally returning via the Bois du Plessis.

Heudebouville offers exceptional natural sites such as the hillsides that form a protected area known as a ZNIEFF (Zone Naturelle d'Intérêt Écologique, Faunistique et Floristique) from Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray. Explore the many ponds and springs located on the plateau, as well as its island known as "Lormais". The village's architectural heritage will surprise you with its priory on the banks of the Seine and its splendid bread oven at the start of the hike.

This hike takes you across the agricultural plateau of the Norman Vexin, wooded valleys andGR® along the cliffs of the Seine, with superb panoramic views of the Seine valley.

After admiring Vascœuil Castle and its dovecote, the path will take you into the Lyons National Forest with some noticeable changes in elevation before descending to the village of Les Hogues via the Saint-Mathurin spring. The return journey via Perruel follows the Andelle river, offering peaceful landscapes.

A hilly walk overlooking the Eure valley, with a pleasant climb to reach the Côte Bigot and another in the Bois de Garennes.

A pleasant short hike of about ten kilometres along the banks of the Andelle and the Seine. Crossing the Léry Poses outdoor recreation centre and on the banks of Biotropica.

A shaded day-long hike to discover the Norman Vexin with Lyons-la-Forêt, a listed village, and its large forests. This is one of the most beautiful beech and oak forests in Europe, with tall trees, an arboretum, the Fouillebroc and Sainte-Catherine springs, and the 12th-century Cistercian abbey of Mortemer.

Far from the modern world, a small valley hidden between meadows and forest reveals an intimate and authentic Normandy, with magnificent trees, sunken paths, fresh springs, typical thatched cottages and rolling landscapes. This route is not marked, hence its name "secret walk": geolocation is therefore recommended.

A lovely walk in the forest of Lyons-la-Forêt with a stop in one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Starting from the charming church of Acon, on the border between Normandy and Île-de-France, the route first takes you through the Avre valley and follows the river for a good distance. Then, higher up, it passes through a forest of oak and birch trees with fern undergrowth. This is a relatively short hike, but it can be extended by following another route that starts and ends at the same point.

A circular starting from Les Andelys allows you to enjoy the Normandy countryside and discover Château Gaillard in an unusual way. Beautiful view of the circular Seine.

Starting from a charming church, this is a short hike focused on water in the Avre Valley, on the border between Normandy and Île-de-France.

Improved version of the Blue marked route, starting from the Town Hall Square (superbly refurbished) to include a tour of the town, whose heritage is interesting and enhanced by recent developments.

In the Risle Valley in Normandy, a hike alternating between forest, sunken lanes and open plains. Stroll through the Sarrasins valley to discover a fountain lost in the heart of nature. The forest is the dominant feature, with numerous panoramic views. The bocage is very common, with many trees of remarkable size, especially the Chêne à Leude, which has been there since the Middle Ages.

An easy hike that starts along the banks of the Seine, where the reflections are magnificent, especially the typical bridge of Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray. Then, a very gentle climb into the forest leads to the village of Heudebouville and then the splendid panorama of Vironvay over the villages, hillsides, bridge, Château-Gaillard, meanders of the Seine, etc. Along the way, there are frequent small panoramas for those who wish to linger and take in the view.

This hike is mainly in the woods and should be done in hot weather.

A short hike in the Andelle Valley to discover its rich heritage. Two castles, an abbey and the remains of a spinning mill with striking architecture punctuate this route. Pretty wooded paths, particularly the one that runs along the walls of Bonnemare Castle, and the rolling countryside as you leave Douville-sur-Andelle, add to the charm of this walk.

The proposed itinerary is mainly through forests, roads and forest paths. It passes by Mortemer Abbey, the Fouillebroc valley and its spring, and Sainte-Catherine Chapel. The Lyons arboretum is a good place to stop. The return to Lyons through the forest ends with a visit to the main monuments of Lyons-la-Forêt.

A large circular route between woods and plains in the Vexin region to enjoy the first days of spring, with the village of Giverny and the house of the painter Claude Monet as the main attractions.

This is the first in a series of running routes for trail enthusiasts, offering beautiful views. The route takes between 30 and 50 minutes to complete.

This walk reveals a charming village with a rural character, its church, castle and pretty houses. Set off to explore its enchanting plains, hillsides and forests, while photographing the flora and fauna of the undergrowth and the multitude of varieties of wild orchids nestled in the ditches at the edge of the forest.

This walk follows the Eure on both banks from Pont-de-l'Arche, then crosses the village of Léry and continues into the Bord forest. It returns via Les Damps, offering the opportunity to visit the charming village of Pont-de-l'Arche. Please note that this walk is partly impassable during periods of flooding.

This route is quite pleasant, even though it is mainly on roads. In fact, more than 9 km of the 13.5 km route is on tarmac. Along the way, you will pass three churches, some beautiful views overlooking the Saint-Ouen stream valley, and several wash houses that remind us that in times not so long ago, laundry was still done by hand!

A varied hike around Marcilly, countryside, forest and villages...

This hiking route (unmarked) allows you to discover the history and architecture of four sites from the medieval period: Montfort Castle, the Priory and a seigneurial residence in Glos-sur-Risle. Along the way, you can discover various hydraulic structures on the Risle River. The hike ends with a long walk through the Montfort State Forest, which has been awarded the "Remarkable Tree" label for 11 of its trees.

A pleasant, flat walk that will allow you to discover the back of the properties in this small village in the Neubourg plain.

Unmarked route, rich and varied, almost exclusively on paths. The ruins of the medieval castle and the banks of the Risle at Château la Motte provide a beautiful end to this hike, which offers a wide variety of landscapes, between the national forest and the Claireau valley, as well as elements of natural heritage (remarkable trees) and historical heritage (Château la Motte, 18th-century wash house, etc.).

Typically Norman, La Haye-de-Routot is a charming village attached to its traditions and craftsmanship. Starting from the church, an easy route suitable for all ages reveals a varied landscape with a beautiful collection of pollarded trees intertwined with hedges and tall beech trees in the national forest, pretty bocage valleys and views of the agricultural plain. This route is largely unmarked and shortens the yellow-marked route.

Charentonne Valley between Bernay and Broglie. A surprising shaded valley in the middle of a grain-growing plain. You wouldn't expect this when travelling from Bernay to Broglie (D438).

A flat, marshy valley, especially in winter, the Risle valley is bordered by forests on both sides. The ponds dug inthe 20th century alternate with the wet meadows of the ancestral Norman bocage. Encompassing all these landscapes, this route offers one of the few possible crossings of the Risle valley on footpaths.

This route takes you along the Risle river before it flows into the Seine estuary at Berville-sur-Mer and through part of the Pays d'Ouche countryside.

From the banks of the Risle, which have been developed for walking, to the forest bordering the valley, this varied route links the residential village of Manneville and the town of Pont-Audemer. It offers a lovely walk in Normandy between town and country, with interesting heritage sites and beautiful views. The route is not signposted in its entirety (geolocation recommended with Visorando) but is based in part on theGR® 224 and the yellow-marked Chemin des Résistants.
