This is a beautiful walk along little-used forest paths that are somewhat wild but very pleasant! You really feel like you're in the middle of nature with a wide variety of vegetation and tree species, magnificent ferns, etc. You'll be breathing hard as you pedal, because this route is quite challenging with some steep climbs and technical sections, but it's still accessible without too many problems...

Unmarked route, rich and varied, almost exclusively on paths. The ruins of the medieval castle and the banks of the Risle at Château la Motte provide a beautiful end to this hike, which offers a wide variety of landscapes, between the national forest and the Claireau valley, as well as elements of natural heritage (remarkable trees) and historical heritage (Château la Motte, 18th-century wash house, etc.).

A very convenient walk if you are staying at the Lodge du Château de la Motte in Montfort-sur-Risle. The forest is home to a wide variety of tree species and overlooks the Risle Valley, offering a beautiful view.

This hiking route (unmarked) allows you to discover the history and architecture of four sites from the medieval period: Montfort Castle, the Priory and a seigneurial residence in Glos-sur-Risle. Along the way, you can discover various hydraulic structures on the Risle River. The hike ends with a long walk through the Montfort State Forest, which has been awarded the "Remarkable Tree" label for 11 of its trees.

In the Risle Valley in Normandy, a hike alternating between forest, sunken lanes and open plains. Stroll through the Sarrasins valley to discover a fountain lost in the heart of nature. The forest is the dominant feature, with numerous panoramic views. The bocage is very common, with many trees of remarkable size, especially the Chêne à Leude, which has been there since the Middle Ages.

A flat, marshy valley, especially in winter, the Risle valley is bordered by forests on both sides. The ponds dug inthe 20th century alternate with the wet meadows of the ancestral Norman bocage. Encompassing all these landscapes, this route offers one of the few possible crossings of the Risle valley on footpaths.

The Grand Huit goes around the ponds of Condé-sur-Risle and Appeville-Annebault. This route crosses the Risle on a bridge and offers a panoramic view and a discovery of the fauna and flora of the wetlands at the bottom of the valley. Three quarters of the route is located along the water's edge. Some poplar trees are remarkably tall.

Typically Norman, La Haye-de-Routot is a charming village attached to its traditions and craftsmanship. Starting from the church, an easy route suitable for all ages reveals a varied landscape with a beautiful collection of pollarded trees intertwined with hedges and tall beech trees in the national forest, pretty bocage valleys and views of the agricultural plain. This route is largely unmarked and shortens the yellow-marked route.

During this hike in the Brotonne forest, I walked along peaceful trails in the heart of unspoilt nature. Lined with majestic oak and beech trees, the paths offered a cool and soothing atmosphere. The calm was disturbed only by the singing of birds and the rustling of leaves under my feet. This accessible and rejuvenating walk was a pleasant moment of relaxation and discovery of Normandy's natural heritage.

This hike in the Brotonne National Forest offered me a wonderful immersion in nature, between shady undergrowth and wide forest paths. The route passes through two iconic sites: the Rond de Nagu and the Rond du Loup, former forest crossroads steeped in history. The path winds its way between oak and beech trees, in a calm and soothing atmosphere. At Rond de Nagu, it's worth taking a break to enjoy the open setting and the silence of the forest, punctuated only by birdsong. The walk then continues towards Rond du Loup, where several paths converge, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

In the Montfort National Forest, an extended version of the Yellow-marked trail starting from the Saint-Vincent visitor centre, with a higher proportion of unpaved paths. Combining a wide variety of woodland settings, alternating between narrow paths and wide lanes, this route also offers an escape into a typical Normandy bocage landscape.

Vieux-Port is the smallest commune in the Eure department. It has preserved the characteristic houses of eastern Normandy, half-timbered farmhouses with cob walls and thatched roofs. It is a popular stopover for boaters sailing on the Seine. The hike crosses the village, but also beautiful forests and typical Norman hamlets, and offers beautiful views of the Seine.

Discover the Moulin de Pierre in Hauville, open to visitors every Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. In the village, the Church of Saint-Paër or Saint-Paterne is open to the public. A fairly pleasant route, with a little tarmac at the start and end. The route is mainly in the forest, with one fairly steep hill and two others that are much gentler.

Away from the marked trails lies a small valley with no waterways but full of charm. It is so hidden that the nightjar, a rare bird in Normandy, has been spotted there during its migration. Starting from the pretty village of Thierville, itself set apart from the Risle valley, this route takes you through varied forest environments and offers beautiful encounters such as the remarkable "Four Brothers" tree.

Disused since the 1970s, the old railway line offers a superb elevated view of the Risle Valley. It makes for a lovely walk starting from a quiet, charming village and passing through the Montfort State Forest. Along the way, you’ll come across some remarkable trees, a small valley with a dry riverbed, a lovely patch of wooded countryside and, occasionally, a few cows, goats, hares or roe deer.

This route winds its way through the Brotonne National Forest along all types of paths. Halfway along the route, in the centre of the village of La Haye-de-Routot, a sheltered picnic area provides a place to take a break between the church, thousand-year-old yew trees and eco-museums.

In the heart of the Normandy countryside, the village of Le Theillement offers a peaceful and authentic setting, ideal for a getaway in the great outdoors. There are two possible routes: a short one of 4 km or a long one of 8 km (72% dirt tracks). This varied and easy route offers an interesting heritage with the Manoir du Val and its elegant brick dovecote, the small Manoir du Thuit and the Villa des Bruyères, not to mention the church and a typical thatched cottage at the start. Long stretches through the woods alternate with more open landscapes on the agricultural plateau. The occasional disturbance from the nearby motorway is quickly forgotten.

A walk through the heart of the state-owned forest, shaded and ideal on a hot summer’s day. The walk begins with a superb view over the Seine valley and Jumièges Abbey. The forest is home to many remarkable trees.
