Heather walk in the woods
There are two possible routes: a short one of 4 km or a long one of 8 km (72% dirt tracks).
This varied and easy route offers an interesting heritage with the Manoir du Val and its elegant brick dovecote, the small Manoir du Thuit and the Villa des Bruyères, not to mention the church and a typical thatched cottage at the start. Long stretches through the woods alternate with more open landscapes on the agricultural plateau. The occasional disturbance from the nearby motorway is quickly forgotten.

The little secret valley in Thierville
Away from the marked trails lies a small valley with no waterways but full of charm. It is so hidden that the nightjar, a rare bird in Normandy, has been spotted there during its migration. Starting from the pretty village of Thierville, itself set apart from the Risle valley, this route takes you through varied forest environments and offers beautiful encounters such as the remarkable "Four Brothers" tree.
Path along the old railway line in Thierville
Disused since the 1970s, the old railway line offers a superb elevated view of the Risle Valley. It makes for a lovely walk starting from a quiet, charming village and passing through the Montfort State Forest. Along the way, you’ll come across some remarkable trees, a small valley with a dry riverbed, a lovely patch of wooded countryside and, occasionally, a few cows, goats, hares or roe deer.
Saint-Vincent Forest Walk
In the Montfort National Forest, an extended version of the Yellow-marked trail starting from the Saint-Vincent visitor centre, with a higher proportion of unpaved paths. Combining a wide variety of woodland settings, alternating between narrow paths and wide lanes, this route also offers an escape into a typical Normandy bocage landscape.

Bosgueroise Circular Loop
Starting from the centre of the village of Bosgouet, you will head towards the Londe State Forest. You will pass the church, then Bosgouet Castle, before entering the forest to discover some magnificent paths.

Located on the outskirts of Rouen, the La Londe-Rouvray forest is a true natural gem, with majestic beech forests, winding paths and bright clearings. Ranked among the largest state-owned forests in Normandy, it invites you to escape and discover varied landscapes, shaped by the seasons and history.

The Chemin des Grottes de Saint-Ouen
A.F.S.S.O Pas à Pas recommends this route in the La Londe National Forest, which allows you to discover several caves on a pleasant walk. A word of advice: do not venture into the caves, wear good shoes and bring walking sticks.
Medieval Heritage Route in the Val de Risle
This hiking route (unmarked) allows you to discover the history and architecture of four sites from the medieval period: Montfort Castle, the Priory and a seigneurial residence in Glos-sur-Risle. Along the way, you can discover various hydraulic structures on the Risle River. The hike ends with a long walk through the Montfort State Forest, which has been awarded the "Remarkable Tree" label for 11 of its trees.
Route of the three villages from La Trinité-de-Thouberville
The A.F.S.S.O Pas à Pas recommends this walk. It passes through three villages: La Trinité-de-Thouberville, Caumont and Saint-Ouen-de-Thouberville. You will pass the small town hall of La Trinité-de-Thouberville, then its church, the châteaux in Caumont, and you will finish at the church of Saint-Ouen-de-Thouberville. Along the route, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the Seine. Take care when crossing the RD675.
The Forest of Montfort-sur-Risle, starting from the Lodge de la Motte
A very convenient walk if you are staying at the Lodge du Château de la Motte in Montfort-sur-Risle. The forest is home to a wide variety of tree species and overlooks the Risle Valley, offering a beautiful view.
Claireau forest and medieval walk
Unmarked route, rich and varied, almost exclusively on paths.
The ruins of the medieval castle and the banks of the Risle at Château la Motte provide a beautiful end to this hike, which offers a wide variety of landscapes, between the national forest and the Claireau valley, as well as elements of natural heritage (remarkable trees) and historical heritage (Château la Motte, 18th-century wash house, etc.).
Montfort-sur-Risle Forest
This is a beautiful walk along little-used forest paths that are somewhat wild but very pleasant!
You really feel like you're in the middle of nature with a wide variety of vegetation and tree species, magnificent ferns, etc.
You'll be breathing hard as you pedal, because this route is quite challenging with some steep climbs and technical sections, but it's still accessible without too many problems...

The banks of the Seine, Roumare Forest and the castles around Sahurs
A pleasant walk along the Seine, starting with views of pretty villages and cliffs on the opposite bank. This route also passes through the Roumare National Forest and several villages.
This hike offers views of no fewer than seven castles and manor houses, some of which are visible on the way back along the Seine.
The Moulin de Pierre and the Brotonne Forest
Discover the Moulin de Pierre in Hauville, open to visitors every Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. In the village, the Church of Saint-Paër or Saint-Paterne is open to the public. A fairly pleasant route, with a little tarmac at the start and end. The route is mainly in the forest, with one fairly steep hill and two others that are much gentler.
Chemin des Longues Vallées
The pretty village of Mauny has a rich heritage with its imposing castle and numerous old houses. The forest covers half of the route and contrasts with the open agricultural plain. The Grotte du Maquis, a sandstone cross and beautiful trees also line this pleasant route.
A shorter version of the yellow marked route starting from Barneville-sur-Seine, retaining its main points of interest but removing the two sections on the fairly busy road.
Circular route in the Oison Valley starting from Saint-Pierre-des-Fleurs
Nestled in the heart of Roumois, in the Eure department, this hike connects the charming villages of Saint-Pierre-des-Fleurs, Le Bec-Thomas, Saint-Ouen-de-Pontcheuil and Saint-Amand-des-Hautes-Terres. Between green valleys, hedgerow paths and the peaceful banks of the Oison, the route offers an authentic immersion in the Normandy countryside. Along the trails, alternating between quiet country roads and wilder passages, you will discover a discreet rural heritage and open landscapes typical of Roumois.
Robert's Castle
This route is suitable for experienced hikers as there are significant elevation changes and it can sometimes be difficult to find your way through the maze of forest paths in the Londe Forest.
The GPX track and app will be useful.
Along the way, you will discover the ruins of Robert the Devil's Castle, part of the imposing Londe Rouvray National Forest, the Dix-Sept Piles Viaduct, the Gothic church of Moulineaux and a pretty view of one of the meanders of the Seine.

Along the ponds of La Saussaye
As you wander through the streets and lanes of La Saussaye, you will discover a number of ponds and learn of their purpose, preserved in the memories of the older generation. Along the way, you will notice beautiful brick houses and find remarkable trees, most of which are linked to the village’s historical periods.
The Saint-Louis Collegiate Church and the small town hall of Saint-Germain-de-Pasquier
Starting from La Saussaye, the path quickly opens up onto alternating undergrowth and small country lanes. The route allows you to enjoy a peaceful, green rural environment. After a pleasant warm-up, you reach Saint-Germain-de-Pasquier, a charming Norman village known for having the smallest town hall in France: with a surface area of around 8 m² (2.7 metres by 3), it is indeed one of the smallest town halls in France, listed in the Guinness Book of Records. It is housed in the former Sainte-Clotilde chapel, which was deconsecrated at the beginning of the 20th century and converted by a naval architect accustomed to small spaces. A short photo break is a must before continuing on to the Saint-Louis Collegiate Church, a beautiful building whose architecture combines simplicity and elegance.
Chemin de la Petite Houssaye
Typically Norman, La Haye-de-Routot is a charming village attached to its traditions and craftsmanship. Starting from the church, an easy route suitable for all ages reveals a varied landscape with a beautiful collection of pollarded trees intertwined with hedges and tall beech trees in the national forest, pretty bocage valleys and views of the agricultural plain.
This route is largely unmarked and shortens the yellow-marked route.
Circular of Mesnil-sous-Jumièges
We begin with a stretch through the forest, crossing the golf course, then we go around the lake and take the marsh path to join the Route du Conihout and then the towpath.
Around Mesnil-sous-Jumièges
A short route with varied landscapes: the charming village of Mesnil-sous-Jumièges on the banks of the Seine, then a short detour into the forest, passing near the Manoir d'Agnès Sorel, followed by a walk along the lake opposite the leisure centre, and ending through marshes and orchards along the towpath.

The banks of the Seine, manor houses and castles between Hautot and Saint-Pierre
Nestled on the outskirts of Rouen, the commune of Hautot-sur-Seine offers the ideal setting for a walk combining unspoilt nature and exceptional heritage. From the very first steps, the path leads deep into the majestic Roumare Forest, a veritable green oasis. As the route progresses, the forest gives way to the winding banks of the Seine, offering sweeping views of the river. It is here that the eye is drawn to superb manor houses and châteaux, witnesses to a rich past, which elegantly punctuate the landscape and tell the story of this valley shaped by time.
Around Jumièges Abbey between the Seine and orchards
An easy and pleasant walk, best done during cherry season or when the many fruit trees along the route are in bloom. Lovely views of the Abbey and the River Seine.

Les Ronds de Nagu and Les Ronds du Loup in the Brotonne National Forest
This hike in the Brotonne National Forest offered me a wonderful immersion in nature, between shady undergrowth and wide forest paths. The route passes through two iconic sites: the Rond de Nagu and the Rond du Loup, former forest crossroads steeped in history. The path winds its way between oak and beech trees, in a calm and soothing atmosphere. At Rond de Nagu, it's worth taking a break to enjoy the open setting and the silence of the forest, punctuated only by birdsong. The walk then continues towards Rond du Loup, where several paths converge, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
Circular in the Brotonne forest
During this hike in the Brotonne forest, I walked along peaceful trails in the heart of unspoilt nature. Lined with majestic oak and beech trees, the paths offered a cool and soothing atmosphere. The calm was disturbed only by the singing of birds and the rustling of leaves under my feet. This accessible and rejuvenating walk was a pleasant moment of relaxation and discovery of Normandy's natural heritage.
Grand Camp Route
Starting from Quevillon, this route is located in the Roumare Forest, where you can admire pheasants, wild boars, roe deer and deer in the wild, crossing a path or forest road, and enjoy the sound of pheasants calling as you walk.
Around Vieux-Port
Vieux-Port is the smallest commune in the Eure department. It has preserved the characteristic houses of eastern Normandy, half-timbered farmhouses with cob walls and thatched roofs. It is a popular stopover for boaters sailing on the Seine. The hike crosses the village, but also beautiful forests and typical Norman hamlets, and offers beautiful views of the Seine.
