Close to the town centre of Lorient and the sea, this walk is ideal for families: it will take you through 89 hectares of natural environments, along paths built in the 1970s around two lakes. You will appreciate the contrast between the shady green lanes and the mirror of the sea reflecting the blue sky.

Discover the history of Lorient, from its origins in the era of the Compagnie des Indes – founded in 1664 by Colbert to facilitate trade with Asia – through to post-war reconstruction and the conversion of former military sites. An unusual urban walk in the heart of a maritime city.

Between sea and land, the Anse de Kerguélen route takes you along sunken paths—veritable tunnels of vegetation—past meadows, ponds and marshes. Back on the shore, facing the Île de Groix, you’ll appreciate the contrast between the blue of the ocean and the white of the sandy coastline dotted with rocky outcrops. This route is organised by Lorient Agglomération.

A stone’s throw from the Blavet, nestled between woodland and salt meadows, the Goden Marsh route will introduce you to magnificent landscapes shaped by the sea. Where the fresh waters of the Plessis stream meet the rising tides of the sea, you can observe the flora and fauna of these natural habitats.

From Inzinzac-Lochrist to Lanvaudan, follow the Kerollin stream, walking along sunken paths and the old railway line. Discover the hamlets and the villages of Lanvaudan and Penquesten, with their well-preserved heritage. A long, rejuvenating walk in the heart of the rolling, wooded countryside.

The blacksmiths' route will take you from the banks of the Blavet, which was canalised inthe 19th century, to the green hills of the Trémelin Forest. A walk in the heart of unspoilt nature, once exploited for the Kerglaw Forges, which produced iron to meet the needs of Breton canneries.

Crossing the Domaine de Manehouarn, following the old railway line, through woods and sunken paths, you reach the steep-sided valley of Pontkalleg where the wild and turbulent River Scorff winds its way. A magnificent walk in the heart of nature, exploring local heritage and history.

Starting from Locunel, the Chevreuil (10 km) and Lann Bourgeol (7.3 km) routes – which can be tackled in two stages or in one go – will take you along streams and through woodland to explore the Inguiniel countryside. You’ll be charmed by its characterful houses, Lochrist Chapel, its churchyard and its fountain.

Walking the Talhouët route takes you through the heart of medieval alleyways and along the River Blavet, through woods and into Kerbihan Park, through the housing estates and into the heart of the town rebuilt after the war. These are all opportunities to discover the rich and turbulent history of Hennebont, a strategic location in the Blavet estuary.

Starting from the banks of the Blavet in Saint-Caradec, walk beneath the canopy of the Bois du Hingair. Follow its wide paths and narrow forest trails, crossing the streams. Walk along the estuary and enjoy the magnificent views of the valley and the meandering river below.

The Lec’h route will take you along streams, through sunken paths and villages, as you explore the Calan countryside. It’s a chance to discover the rural heritage and the lec’h at Kerandiot, a Gallic funerary stele. Don’t miss the Church of the Trinity, a masterpiece of Breton Romanesque art: nave, carved capitals and murals, Gothic choir and ossuary gallery.

Linking the village of Cléguer with Bas Pont-Scorff, the Coët Letune route takes you through the Cléguer countryside, past woodland and meadows, alongside the River Scorff and its streams. Don’t miss the partly Romanesque Saint-Gérand Church and the heritage sites in Bas Pont-Scorff, notably the Notre-Dame de Bonne Nouvelle Chapel and its 13th-century recumbent statue. The walk will also give you the chance to discover heritage linked to water, including a fountain, a washhouse, a mill and a brewery…

From the Scorff estuary to the Scave. Starting from the historic town of Pont-Scorff, explore the Scorff and Scave valleys with their wild and unspoilt landscapes, home to protected species such as salmon. On your return, stroll through the narrow streets, discover the Cour des Métiers d’Art and its artisans, the contemporary art spaces, and the landscaped gardens of this town, which has been awarded the ‘Petite Cité de Caractère’ label.

Close to the town of Quéven, this walk takes you along paths around the Val Quéven Golf Course, through woods and fields and alongside streams. You’ll be able to explore the former seigneury of Kerrousseau, situated on a promontory overlooking the lush Scave Valley.

A Natura 2000 site, the Scorff estuary is a haven of peace just a stone’s throw from Lorient. Through woods, salt marshes and reed beds, let yourself be guided between fresh and salt water along the unspoilt banks of the Scorff and Scave. A walk in the heart of nature amidst enchanting landscapes.

Through sunken lanes and the bocage, set off to discover the history of Quistinic: its religious heritage, its villages, its bridges and its locks. Delving into the heart of the forests and moors, overlooking the Blavet Valley and following the streams, you will be enchanted by the beauty of the landscapes. A route to be enjoyed as a day trip, with a picnic.

Starting from the village of Quistinic, set off along sunken paths, beside streams and through the heart of the forests to explore the western part of the municipality. Discover the history of Quistinic, its chapels, calvaries, rural houses, mills and more. This route covers the western section of the Chapels Route.

Starting from the Saint-Adrien bridge, set off to explore the eastern part of Quistinic. Head up to the heights of Lann Velin Avel, then return along the Blavet Valley. As you walk, enjoy the beauty of the lush green landscapes and the views over the river. As you wander along the paths, let yourself be surprised by the chapels, fountains, hamlets, bridges and locks… This route follows the eastern section of the Chapels Route.

This beautiful circular route around Lorient will allow you to discover the different neighbourhoods as well as its maritime and riverfronts. The diversity of the landscapes, the architectural curiosities and the charm of the hidden paths among the urban areas will make you appreciate this route with its changing atmospheres.

This lovely walk will take you from the Dézinio woods to the villages of Saint-Nicolas and Dézinio through the undergrowth and along paths. A shaded route in summer, with beautiful views of the bocage and rural heritage: chapels, old farms, water-related heritage, etc.

This hike combines walking (12 km) and water bus crossings. Board the boat to Pen Mané and follow the coastal path to the ramparts of Port Louis. Board the boat again to reach Keroman and walk through the streets of Lorient to Quai des Indes. Remember to check the water bus timetable in advance (see the link in the practical information section). You will be hiking through natural and private sites. Discover the natural and built heritage of Lorient harbour along the GR®34. From the historic port of Lorient, you will walk along the Scorff before reaching the Blavet estuary, which offers beautiful views of the maritime landscape. The walking loop ends at the Pen Mané pier in Locmiquélic. A water bus will take you back to your starting point in Lorient in 8 minutes. Remember to check the water bus timetable in advance. You will be walking through natural and private sites. Stay on the marked paths and respect nature, facilities and cultivated land. Walk around and through the village of Bubry along sunken paths and through woods. The walk offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and allows you to discover the village's religious heritage, its church and presbytery, the Sainte-Hélène Chapel, its fountain and its wash houses.

The Grand Route de Bubry will charm you with its diverse paths and trails lined with embankments. A beautiful day trip through the heart of the countryside with its green landscapes, passing through villages with preserved traditional houses and close to chapels and fountains.

Le Tro Ploue invites you to explore the paths around the village and between the towns. A nature walk through Manehouarn Park, Bois Coët Fao and the Saint-Sauveur valley. A historical walk to discover religious buildings, crosses, fountains, etc.

Starting from the pier, you will cross the quiet streets of Locmiquelic to the Pointe du Bigot with its panoramic view of the Lorient harbour and the mudflats that are revealed at low tide. The rest of the route will take you to the old imperial road and the villages near the Blavet. You will finish this circular loop by walking through the Pen Mané marsh, a true haven of peace for wildlife.

This 9 km circular route around Riantec will allow you to discover all the landscapes that make up the commune. After criss-crossing the village, let yourself be guided to the small sea of Gâvres. Linger around the Château de Kerdurant and the Stervins tide mill. Keep your eyes peeled as you approach the Dreff marsh, where you may be lucky enough to spot passerines and other inhabitants of the reed beds.

This route will take you along the sunken paths of Riantec. You will cross the woods to the north of the village, walk along the old imperial road and discover the villages that punctuate your route.The paths can be muddy in winter, so don't forget to bring appropriate footwear.

From the Bay of Lorient to the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, Cycle Route 8 (188 km) crosses the Breton countryside on towpaths and peaceful little roads lined with water points. The V8 first follows shared paths, passing through pretty residential neighbourhoods in the city, then through the countryside, before reaching the Blavet towpath, which meanders between the wooded hills of a green valley. Route 8 then continues along the quiet and winding Hilvern canal, which has been converted into a greenway, to join the Nantes-Brest stream at Allineuc.
