Description of the walk

Parking available at the starting point, Quai Saint-Mathurin in Saint-Caradec Hennebont.
Starting sign at the car park entrance near the campsite.

(S/E) With your back to the Blavet, head up Rue Saint-Caradec opposite, which turns right towards the roundabout.

(1) Continue straight on, passing the church on your right. At the fork, turn left, then right onto Chemin du Hingair.

(2) In the woods, continue straight on along the dirt track, ignoring the paths on either side. You will reach a multi-way junction.

(3) Turn left twice at the barriers and continue along the main path (left, right and straight on along the stream). Turn into the lane that climbs to the right and continue straight on.

(4) At the large crossroads, go straight ahead, then straight on. Turn right, then take the small path on the left which joins the main lane at a stream.

(5) Continue straight on along the main lane. Take the second left and continue to the right. Carry on straight along the main path, which turns right (twice) until you reach the Voie du Hingair.

(6) Cross the forest track and take the narrow path down to the right. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the paths on the left. At the end, turn right and join the Hingair.

(7) Take the path furthest to the left opposite, which descends towards the village past the buildings. Turn left, then go straight on along the meadow. Stay as close as possible to the Blavet (two left turns). Climb up to the right (steep slope) and take the path on the left. Follow the steps to the right, then turn left.

(8) Cross the stream, head up to the right and continue to the left to return to your starting point, walking alongside the campsite (S/E).

A very beautiful hike with an unusual elevation gain for the region. Enjoyable in the shade. Makes you want to come back for more hikes along the Blavet. Take the opportunity to visit the historic part of Hennebont.

No problem, it’s marked as ‘Easy’ on the walk description and on the sign at the start, but I’d say it’s only moderately easy as there are some tough climbs. I now have a better understanding of the time it takes relative to the distance, but apart from that, it’s a very pleasant walk.
