Description of the walk

Parking is available in the car park opposite the church. Penquesten village (Inzinzac-Lochrist). Church on the side of the War Memorial. Starting sign near the public toilets.

(S/E) Take the alleyway to the right of the church, then turn right onto Rue de Porh Roussine in Penquesten and follow it to the end.

(1) Turn left, then right (with the wash house on your right) onto the farm track.

(2) Carry on straight ahead at the junction with the GR®, then veer slightly to the right.

(3) Turn left at the hairpin bends. Continue to the right (twice), then left onto the farm track. Follow the boardwalk alongside the Kerollin stream until you reach the road.

(4) Go up the path on the right, then straight on along the road. Continue left along the road, straight on at the junction, right at the fork, then straight on. Take care, particularly when crossing the junction. Follow the farm track and veer slightly to the left before the gate. Turn right at the hairpin bends, then left, and carry on straight ahead along the road linking Kervénic Izel to Kervénic Ihuel

(5) Enter the village of Kervénic Ihuel on the left, and follow the path through the woods at the end (left, then straight on and right). At the hairpin bends, turn right (twice) and head back down the road to the hamlet of Lanvaudan. Before the church, turn left onto Place Saint-Maude, then right, skirting the church, and straight on along Rue Sainte-Anne (D102).

(6) Walk past the town hall and turn left after the school. Enter the sunken lane (with hairpin bends) opposite. Continue straight on, then follow the path to the left, along the edge of the field (three times to the right). Carry on to the left, then turn right onto the road. You’ll reach a crossroads in Kervéno.

(7) Turn right at the barriers and follow the path. At the end, turn left, then right and straight on along the old railway line to reach the station.

(8) Go straight on, past the old station. At the crossroads, go straight ahead (with the wash house on your right), and stay on the old railway embankment (straight on and slightly to the left).

(9) Head up to the right at the barriers and, further on, cross the D102 road (danger, take care). Follow the path to the right, before continuing to the left along the track. At the road, turn right to reach Kerglinec.

(10) After the farm buildings, turn left onto the track. Turn right at the crossroads and follow the boardwalk and the path on your right. Continue straight on past the hairpin bends and along the farm track. You’ll arrive at Couëdic Izel.

(11) Turn left, then right onto the road, and continue for 300 m. Enter the woodland on the left, after the house, and follow the marked path (turning right three times) along the Couëdic stream. You’ll come to the fork you passed on the way out.

(3) At the hairpin bends, carry on straight ahead, in the opposite direction to the outward journey, until you reach the village of Penquesten (S/E).

A lovely walk through fields, woodland and along streams. Absolutely stunning in the glorious sunshine. Completed in 5 hours, including a break of just over half an hour. Highly recommended.

A very beautiful route, passing through varied landscapes, along the banks of a stream in the undergrowth, then through forest and cultivated fields... Be careful during the first part of the hike, as you are right next to the stream. It's very charming, but in early March, parts of the path were very wet, even flooded and/or very muddy... My shoes didn't fare too well! Otherwise, I recommend this lovely, completely accessible walk, which took 5 hours as planned.

I was on a rather intense hiking/fast walking session (2 hours 45 minutes for a route that would take 5 hours 10 minutes at a slow pace), preparing for a half marathon. I chose this route because I found it both visually appealing and moderately challenging. I also use other hiking apps (such as Strava, komoot, visugpx, etc.), and I noticed that the net pace during the effort and the mileage covered were sometimes incorrect, but the strangest thing is still the difference in performance between the various apps mentioned above.
