Saint-Laurent-d'Onay walks

In the Drôme des Collines, at Saint-Laurent-d'Onay, a lovely circular route that alternates between woodland, countryside and hilltops (known as ‘faite’, ‘feste’ or ‘feyta’ in the south-east). Beautiful views of the Vercors.

A pleasant walk through the heart of the valleys of northern Drôme. There are two climbs on the route, but nothing too difficult.

From Charmes-sur-l'Herbasse, a short circuit passes by the Château de Charmes, a private property that is open to visitors, then winds pleasantly through the woods with a few views of the surrounding hills.

The Tour de Montmiral walk.

This is a good walk to do when the paths are muddy. It mainly follows small asphalt roads with little traffic. It offers beautiful views of the foothills of the Massif Central.

This hike offers fabulous views of the Vercors and the Drôme hills, alternating between undergrowth and wild sunken paths. Suitable for all seasons.

The Rando Croquis trail in the Bois de Sisay is the first of its kind in France. It allows you to discover nature through an introduction to drawing and sketching. There are around ten stations along the trail, each with explanations.

You walk along the foothills of the Chambarans until you reach the unmissable medieval village of Saint-Antoine l'Abbaye with its famous abbey. You have constant beautiful views of the northern barrier of the Vercors. The only difficulty is the high mileage.

Walk starting from Dionay Town Hall. Set off to explore the tramway and the Chambarans National Forest. The end of the route offers unobstructed views of the Vercors and Chartreuse mountains.

Hike from Montfalcon to the Chapel of Serein in Saint-Clair-sur-Galaure through countryside and woods. This hike is a longer version of the hike from the Chapel of Serrein to Montfalcon Castle, with different routes.

Between the Benedictine Abbey of Triors and the Chapel of Gillons, you may encounter monks who also enjoy the tranquillity of these paths, which pass by beautiful walnut groves and close to the foothills of the Drôme hills.

Right from the start of the route, you will have a great time on a fun little trail along the river. The only climb, which is a little long, will take you to the highest point of the circular route, offering you a beautiful view of the Hauterives valley.

This route takes you across fields, but very often on small tarmac roads, allowing you to discover what the environment of Facteur Cheval might have been like. Perhaps some parts of the route were even part of his daily rounds!

This varied walk first winds along the Galaure river before climbing up the hill. It meanders through the woods before returning to the village of Hauterives, in front of the Palais Idéal. Read the practical information before setting off. There is a ford to cross. If you wish, you can shorten the route and do only a 7 km circular route.

A short route offering a taste of the main types of trails found in the Drôme des Collines: sand, gravel, woodland, valleys... The two main climbs are relatively steep and lead to some lovely views.

A beautiful hike in the Romanais region with magnificent views of the Isère valley and the Vercors to the east and the Vivarais mountains and the Mézenc massif to the west.

Short walk in the Bois de Mours forest.

A loop alternating between hills, fruit tree plantations, the beautiful forests of Garde and Bard, and numerous sandy paths (almost Saharan!) Beautiful views of the hills and the Vercors and Pilat massifs.

This route runs alongside the Herbasse for much of the way, passing through gardens, fields and woods, and reaches Lac de Champos, its campsite and leisure centre, avoiding tarmac as much as possible. It ends at the charming little Parc Georges Bert.

This hike starting from Peyrins takes you up the first (gentle) slopes of the Drôme des Collines, through varied countryside. Given the terrain, walkers can enjoy beautiful views of the west and then the east of the region.

You will start at the lowest point in Saint-Lattier and climb to the highest point, where you will enjoy a 360° view of the Vercors, Drôme and Ardèche mountains. The cobbled climb, an ancient medieval road, leads to Bel Aire. Along the way, you can admire the paving, the structures from the period and the ruts carved out by the carts and wagons that used to travel to the castle mound known as "Le Pain Sucre", which dominates the Saint-Lattier valley.
