Description of the walk

Park near the water tower or in the hamlet of Le Bourg.

(S/E) Follow the D265 road to the Chemin de Hurlevent junction.

(1) Turn left onto this path leading to the Hurl'vent equestrian centre. Continue along the tarmac path. Pass between the centre’s buildings.
After the equestrian centre, follow the path that heads into the woods. This section is full of large puddles in several places, but a path, gradually forming in the woods (on the left), allows you to go round them.
After that, the path is much easier. You’ll reach a large junction where several paths meet.

(2) Continue straight on to the next junction and straight on again until you leave the forest at the crossroads of paths at elevation 492.

(3) Turn left and take the path heading south-east; there are hunting platforms to the right of the path.

(4) Turn left and follow the path until you leave the woods. Beautiful view of the Vercors and the Alps. At the next junction, do not take the first path which heads north-west but follow the second one and continue until you leave the woods onto the tarmac road opposite a house.

(5) Follow the tarmac road to the right to the hamlet of Pelaillon.

(6) Turn left onto the path heading due north (house with solar panels on the right) and follow it until you reach the edge of the woods. Continue on to a path junction just before the cemetery.

(7) Take the path that climbs to the left and pass under the horse riding centre to return to the first crossroads.

(1) Retrace your steps along the outward route to return to the car park (S/E).

It’s true that this year’s frequent rainfall since January has made our paths very muddy, and sometimes we’re forced to walk along the edges.

A pleasant route, mostly in the shade.
As mentioned in a previous comment, take care between points 4 and 5. The path to follow doesn’t seem to be used very often and runs alongside a field. The grass was tall and full of nettles, but only for a few metres. You then head back into the forest, which is very pleasant.

Be careful, however, as the first part of the walk consists of a track used by forestry machinery and horses. In wet weather, the track becomes very, very muddy, and sometimes large puddles can even make the official path impassable. We had to stick to the forest edges running alongside the track and make our own way.

A pleasant walk with no real difficulty, except between points 4 and 5, where you need to keep a close eye on the path to make sure you don’t go the wrong way.

Although much of the walk was in the snow, the route markers were spot on:
