Park in the Quai de la Galaure car parks.
(S/E) From the car park, head for the Hauterives sign at the end of the large car park opposite the wooden footbridge over the Galaure and in front of a large wooden sculpture of Facteur Cheval. Opposite the signpost, turn left into Rue André Malraux, following the signs for Palais Idéal. Pass the Tourist Office and turn right into the small pedestrian street (Rue du Palais Idéal). After the shops, at number 8, you will find the entrance to the Palais Idéal.
Continue along the street until you reach a tarmac road.

Follow Rue Étienne Vassy to the left, then turn left in front of the emergency services centre to reach the D51. Turn right onto the road, staying on the pavement, leave Impasse des Sources on your left and continue to the small bridge over a stream.
(1) Turn left to cross the road (take care) and continue along Impasse des Roches. A little further up, the road climbs steeply, then the slope levels out. After the last house, the road loses its surface and veers to the right (the track on the left of the map is not visible on the ground). The path turns left again to reach a fork (not visible on the map) at the entrance to a copse. Turn right and you will come to the access path to a farm about 250m further on (the track on the left before the path is also not visible on the ground). Turn left and you will soon reach a tarmac road at no. 845.
(2) Turn left onto the road and continue to a crossroads. Turn right onto the tarmac road and continue for 150 metres to another crossroads. Continue left for about 500 metres to another crossroads (small house on the left).
(3) Turn right down a slight slope and left at the next crossroads (signposted Impasse Guignière). Go around a farm on the right and go down the small road to a house on a left-hand bend.
Leave the road and follow the grassy path on the right, which is not very clear at first. When you reach the tarmac, follow the road straight ahead, passing alongside some buildings, until you reach the D51.
(4) Cross the road (take care) and you will arrive at the La Massetière signpost. Continue straight ahead towards Bonne Combe. Cross a ford (use the footbridge on the right if there is too much water) and continue to the next junction. Turn right onto Route de la Galliardière, cross a stream and look for a path on the left just before crossing another stream.
(5) Leave the road and turn left onto the stony path that climbs up into the Bois Billou. When the path becomes easier and flatter, the view opens up. Join a new tarmac road (Bonne Combe signpost).
(6) Turn right and follow the road, which soon begins to descend. Cross a stream and climb a little to see a private chapel adjoining a house on the left. Continue climbing, ignoring a path on the right (hiking signs) and a dead-end road on the left to reach the next crossroads (house no. 395).
(7) Turn right into Impasse Gengonière, staying on the tarmac road until you reach the entrance to no. 680. Follow the path that leaves the property on the left, running alongside a large field. At the end, the path descends again. Leave a vague path on the left and rejoin the tarmac road. Continue downhill to the junction with the D187.
(8) Turn right for about 150 metres, then leave the road and turn right onto the path. Join a tarmac road at the houses and follow it to the left until you reach the stop sign.
(9) Turn right towards a motorhome area (tennis courts on your left), pass under the parking lot entrance porches and follow the path that crosses it. When you reach the footbridge, turn right, cross the river, then turn left to reach the car park (S/E).
