Orto walks

One of the most beautiful hikes in Corsica. The path is pleasant, with part of it in the woods. The arrival at the lake is a magical moment. The lake appears in a setting, even if there are a few people around, the place is conducive to quiet conversation. A very beautiful place for a picnic.

The Ziocu pools are situated both below and above the footbridge where canyoners set off. Please note: do not undertake this hike in the event of a thunderstorm, as flash floods are possible, as seen during Cévennes-style downpours. The pools are at an altitude of approximately 1,005 to 1,110 metres.

Our seventh stage ofthe GR®20. This route consists of two stages, the first to the Petra Piana refuge, and the second via the ridge variant.

A legendary place in Corsica: Lake Nino and its pozzines. You have a magnificent view of the Cintu massif, the Gulf of Cargèse, and if you are lucky, you will encounter beautiful wild horses.

Please note: a hiker reported in August 2026 that access to the lake is prohibited due to forest fires. Check before setting off. A climb to a high-altitude lake, set in beautiful mountain scenery. A varied route that starts in a pine forest, continues through rocky terrain and ends amidst pastures. This hike offers an alternative to the much busierGR®®20route, which starts from the Col de Vergio.

After our break at the Col de Vergio, we head back towards the sea. During this stage, we will cross the beautiful Aîtone forest with its swimming pools and paved paths in some places.

The sixth stage of ourGR®20. We pass by the beautiful Lake Nino. It is a long hike in terms of distance, but the elevation gain is easier than on previous days.

A quick detour via theGR®20allows you to discover the superb sheepfolds at Radule.

Our eighth day on theGR®20. A steep climb before an equally steep descent, but with a beautiful view... You will admire the Cascade des Anglais as you approach Vizzavona.

This summit offers a fantastic vantage point over the gulfs of Ajaccio and Sagone, as well as three of the island’s major mountains – a fabulous 360° view. Please note: some sections require you to use your hands as well as your feet.

Through the Corsican vegetation of tree heath, arbutus and pine trees, the discreet path leading to Punta Sant'Eliseu is sometimes peaceful, sometimes challenging. The arrival at the summit offers a superb panoramic view of the bays of Sagone, Liscia and Ajaccio to the west and Monte Renoso and Monte D'Oro to the east. Closer by, below, the villages highlight the gentleness of the Gravone valley.

Along this fairly easy educational walk (with lots of interesting information boards), you will discover the hard life of the farmers of yesteryear in the midst of chestnut and Laricio pine trees. A magical forest where you expect to meet a fairy behind every patch of moss on a rock. Perhaps they have turned into pigs nibbling on chestnuts along the way. Further on, you will walk along the Aïtone with its pools (8°C!) and waterfalls... very popular in summer as it is accessible from a tarmac road. The best time to visit is October/November for the colours and manageable crowds.

For this last stage, as soon as you leave Evisa, take the discovery trail and descend the beautiful Spelunca Gorges. After the Genoese bridge at Pianella, you will arrive at the beautiful village of Ota and descend towards the marina at Porto.

Second day of the hike between Corte and Porto. The trail begins by climbing up to Bocca Arinella, where we discover our destination: after Lake Calacuccia, the village of Albertacce.

The second stage of the “Circular Tour of Two Vallées” takes you into one of Corsica’s wildest and best-preserved valleys: the Tavignanu Valley. From the A Sega mountain hut, situated on the banks of the Tavignanu, the path follows the river and descends gradually through a dense forest where Laricifolius pines and holm oaks grow side by side. Along the way, you’ll enjoy numerous viewpoints over the steep-sided gorges and pools of crystal-clear water that dot the river. Halfway along the route, you can stop for a break at the Rossulinu Footbridge before continuing on the less steep but equally spectacular section of the trail, which will gently lead you towards Corte.

This is a very beautiful hike that allows you to discover the two lakes of Melo and Capitello with a view of the Brèche de Capitello. The view from the breach allows you to discover both sides of the massif. 20/05/2024: The Restonica Valley is no longer accessible by car! A magnificent and unmissable hike. Caution: the passage of ladders and cables before Lac Melo and the descent of this section may prove difficult for those not accustomed to using this equipment and also to stony paths. 20/05/2024: Hike modified. U chjassu di i lavi The beautiful lakes of Melu and Capitellu are still accessible. It is now a challenging hike. Take on the challenge and your efforts will be rewarded! The former starting point for this hike, from the Grotelle sheepfolds, is no longer accessible by vehicle due to the significant damage caused by storms Ciaran and Domingos. The starting point is now at the Frasseta bridge.

You’ll be delighted by the unique view of the Cappelaccia sheepfolds. We are now at the highest point of the vast Alzo plateau and can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view stretching from Rotondo to Cinto, via Punta Artica and Paglia Orba. A large sign and red markings show us the way forward.

Loop starting from the Genoese bridge at Albertacce, first following the Viru, a tributary of the Golo, to the Moulin de Muricciolu, then a pretty balcony path above the Golo to the footbridge over the Golo.

A hike leading to the A Tanedda glacier (or more precisely, the snowfield). This site was used fromthe 17th to the early19th century for the ice trade. After extraction, the ice was transported to Ajaccio. A beautiful ascent, alternating between shaded and sunny areas, which will give you a sense of the harshness of life in days gone by.

At an altitude of 850 metres, there is a view of Bocognano and the Gravone valley.

Walk under the oak trees connecting the village of Bocognano to Piscia di Tavera Vechja, also known as the "Voile de la Mariée" waterfall.

This route is shaded, making it ideal on hot days! It is suitable for children, who will enjoy playing in the water afterwards. When you start the hike after the bridge over the Porto River, you will see signs indicating that the route is closed due to bad weather. These signs are old and there is no problem until the bridge. Apparently, there are landslides on the path after the Zaglia bridge towards Evisa.

An easy hike from Sari d'Orcino to the two Punta di à Vita peaks: one as indicated on the maps, the other as written on the cross at its summit. Much of the trail is marked in yellow as far as Bocca di à Vita.

A short climb to the Bergeries de Ballone, nestled in a superb mountain setting. A short hike, taking half a day.

These sheepfolds, which are in very good condition, mark the end of a forest area. The group of sheepfolds forms a small hamlet of several well-restored huts. The surroundings are magnificent, with large rock formations and the Riviseccu stream. Shaded throughout, the route follows an old forest track that climbs gradually through a forest where beech trees are omnipresent, in contrast to the Laricio pine trees along the stream.

This third stage takes us to the Col de Vergio, the highest point of the day, which marks the start of the descent to Porto. We will pass by the beautiful Radule waterfall and its pools, which are perfect for swimming.

A 1,000-metre ascent, above the village of Bocognano, with some steep sections, awaits hikers on this route. The path is sometimes tricky due to frequent fallen trees, which occasionally alter the route. Markings become sparser in the final third. The use of a GPS and walking poles is strongly recommended.

At an altitude of 1,630 m and close to Ajaccio, this easily accessible peak offers stunning views over the Gravona Valley. Rather than the quick, direct route to the summit from the Col de Scalella, opt for the longer, gentler circular route, with its stunning scenery.
