Departure from Col de Tartavello, near Vero. To reach the pass, from the T20 road (formerly RN193), take the D4 (towards Salice), cross Vignacce then Vero towards Prunaccia. Parking is available right next to the trailhead near the relay antenna.
(S/E) The small trail starts just opposite the telephone relay tower (marked with red fire brigade signs and cairns) and begins with an uphill climb through the undergrowth (to the left of the D4 in the Vero/Pruniccia direction). Follow the single, well-marked trail uphill through the tree heath and arbutus trees, then the pines. The trail can sometimes be narrow due to the vegetation.
(1) The path climbs steeply through the pine trees for about 200 metres to reach a viewpoint overlooking the Gravone valley. Punta San'Eliseu can be seen on the right. Climb over the fallen tree trunks to reach the cairn-marked trail on the right, slightly below.
(2) Continue around Punta Tacchione to the north-west (cairns), on a path alternating between rocky and grassy sections. One section requires you to use your hands to continue the climb. Take note of the location for the return journey.
NB: People who are prone to vertigo may find this section difficult (steep slope below).
(3) Once you have crossed the rocky section, you will come to a small grassy plateau. Continue to the right, following the visible trail and cairns, until you reach the foot of Punta Sant'Eliseo, which you can climb to reach the summit (1,271 m).
(4) At the summit (relay antennas), there is a superb panoramic view of the bays of Sagone, Liscia and Ajaccio to the west and Monte Renoso and Monte D'Oro to the east.
The return journey follows the same route.
(3) Please note:after the small plateau, there is a slight descent. Stay alert to ensure you stay on track and find the path below.
Then head to Col de Tartavello on the D4 (S/E).
