The starting point is the Frasseta bridge car park, accessible only by shuttle bus.
(S/E) The start of the path, signposted in Red, winds its way up through the pines to reach a signpost.
(1) Take the left-hand path (towards Grotelle) and continue as far as the Lamaghjosu bridge over the Restonica.
(2) Do not use this bridge but continue to climb. There are 2 km left to reach Grotelle and its sheepfolds.
(3) Take the path to the south-west overlooking the Restonica. Reach the old Mélo sheepfold.
(4) Go straight ahead and you will soon come to a fork in the road.
(5) Continue south without crossing the river. Wind between stone slabs (passages fitted with chains) and pass the rock lock using metal steps. Reach Lac Mélo.
(6) Keep to the right of the lake and head west up a rocky promontory. Then turn south-west, wind your way through the rocks and reach Lake Capitello.
(7) Return by the same route to Lac Mélo.
(6) There are 2 options here:
- descend using the same route as the outward journey (steps, slabs),
- cross the river that flows out of the lake, as shown on the map, to join a stony path a little further east. Take it along the foot of the rock faces. Descend a few hairpin bends between small rocks. Cross the river again to rejoin the fork you passed on the way up.
(5) Follow the same route as before to reach the Grottelle car park (S/E).
