Departure from the Castellu di Vergio lodge car park.
(S/E) From the Castellu di Vergio lodge, follow theGR®20markings (red and white) north-west on the D84 road.
(1) On the right, you will find the start of theGR®20trail, which descends into the forest and is very well marked and signposted.
(2) At the trail junction, ignore the trail on the right that joins the Mare a Mare trail and continue straight ahead. The trail heads northwest.
(3) Radule sheepfolds (refreshment bar). Cross the group of sheepfolds; the trail heads north. Be sure to follow the markings between the sheepfolds, as the trail can be difficult to follow at times.
(4) First footbridge. Cross to the left bank, then you will come to the junction with the Mare a Mare trail, which you leave on your right.
(5) 2nd footbridge, cross back to the right bank and leave the path that continues straight ahead. The path climbs up alongside the stream.
(6) At the trail junction, continue left, heading west, to reach the ridge (elevation 1881 on the map).
From the ridge, you can see the sea due west.
Follow the well-marked trail to the Ciuttulu di i Mori refuge, clearly visible to the north (3½ hours uphill).
(7) For the return journey, take the unmarked but well-marked path with a few cairns that descends due south.
(6) You will rejoin the ascent route that will take you to the Bergeries de Radule and then to Castellu di Vergio, the starting point (still markedGR®20) (3 hours downhill) (S/E).
). I started from the Fer à Cheval car park. Superb and varied landscapes, passing through Bocca di Foggialle on the way back after the refuge. The Golo and the Radule waterfall are superb (well worth the detour). Many thanks to the author!
