Punta Capiteddu as seen from Bocognano

A 1,000-metre ascent, above the village of Bocognano, with some steep sections, awaits hikers on this route. The path is sometimes tricky due to frequent fallen trees, which occasionally alter the route. Markings become sparser in the final third. The use of a GPS and walking poles is strongly recommended.

Description of the walk

(S/E) Follow the path until you reach a track suitable for vehicles, then continue to the Broncu (stream)

(1) Cross the Broncu and begin the ascent beneath the oak trees. Cairns and yellow markings indicate the path to follow.

(2) Casetti (small huts) and purcili (pig pens) bear witness to past agricultural activity. The climb continues over ground that is sometimes loose. Keep a sharp eye out for the markings. At the shortcut, take the one straight ahead, then continue straight ahead again to rejoin the path. After crossing the Broncu once more, the markings become sparser. Follow the contour line up to the pass.

(3) At the pass, turn left and head for Punta Capiteddu.

(4) The return journey follows the same route in the opposite direction (S/E).
