Jézeau walks

This circular route starting from Jézeau follows a clearly signposted path. The ascent features varying gradients with some fairly steep sections, but nothing technical or complicated. The return is much easier along a very wide path with superb views of the Pyrenees. The alternative route takes you through a horse paddock: see the Practical Information section for guidance on how to behave on this part of the route.

This is a beautiful hike, the first part of which takes you through lovely pine forests. You can then admire a superb panorama of the Aure valley on the south side, not to mention the highlight of the show, an incomparable view of the Arbizon.

Fourth stage of the Ténarèze: this section of the route takes you back to the GR®105 from Fréchet-Aure. The route continues through Camous, a picturesque village with a rich mining heritage. You will then take a path towards Ilhet, following the old railway line, an industrial relic that adds a touch of nostalgia to the hike. The walk continues to Sarrancolin, the end point of this stage.

Third stage of the Ténarèze. From Ancizan, follow the GR® 105 north-east, crossing summer pastures and beech woods with views of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre. After Cadéac, the trail leads to Arreau, the former capital of the Aure Valley. Then take the old railway line (now disused), a flat path lined with ferns, to Fréchet-Aure. This balcony village, listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", offers a panorama of the Pyrenees and a preserved pastoral heritage.

An easy hike that takes you on a circular route around the Hourquette. Dominant position 70% of the time, some beautiful views, passage at Lac d'Arou (where the cows bathe) and crossing of a few streams. Important: for this hike, it is best to use "Open Street Map Rando", which offers more trails than IGN. However, it is impossible to get lost as all the landmarks are visible while walking and serve as reference points.

On a mountain often overlooked in favour of its neighbour, the Arbizon, or the 3,000-metre peaks of the Néouvielle, this hike offers stunning views. The route through the mountain pastures to Lac d’Arou and then over scree to the summit requires good experience of walking on ground that gives way easily underfoot. Please take full note of the comments regarding the mountainous terrain. This hike should only be undertaken when there is no snow!

From the Col d'Aspin, this short round-trip hike will take you along the ridges between the Campan and Aure valleys for a superb view of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the Arbizon and the Perdiguère peaks.

On holiday in the Pyrenees, the weather is fine and dry, so why not take a walk to the Col d'Aspin with our two children (aged two and a half and five and a half).

Climb up to this beautiful hut, which is in perfect condition. It is closed and private. However, there is a small hut in good condition available below this spot. Please note: part of the hike is unmarked, so a good sense of direction is necessary.This hike can be done in average snow conditions. However, this requires even better orientation skills.

A lovely hike done clockwise for a gradual and gentler climb. With two options available, this hike can be adapted to suit different levels. The aim is to meet up at the Collantigue hut to share a meal and a rest.

Snowshoe hike, always in open terrain. The spectacular scenery is present throughout.This hike can be undertaken even when there is no snow. However, the route will be slightly different. You will simply need to follow various animal tracks to reach the pass and the summit.

A snowshoe route offering views over the entire Payolle area. This hike can, of course, be undertaken in summer.However, do not head towards Plo del Naou in foggy conditions or when snow is falling, as there are no landmarks (it is a very large summer pasture area). A good sense of direction is essential (especially after the summit).

A lovely snowshoe hike from the Payolle marble quarry. This is an unmarked trail, so a basic sense of direction is required.N.B. In some places, the IGN map is not up to date. The GPX track can be very useful.

The Crête de Bassia from the Col de Beyrède offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Baronnies de Bigorre to the north and the Pyrenees mountain range from Arbizon to the Pic du Midi de Bigorre to the south.

Hike along trails starting from Payolle, through the forest to the Col d'Aspin, then following the ridges of the Plo del Naou. At the summit, you can enjoy an exceptional panorama of the Campan and Arreau valleys, part of the Pyrenees mountain range, as well as the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and the Arbizon.

A lovely, easy hike from the Payolle campsite. This hike can be done on snowshoes. Le Courtaou near Les Esclozes has been restored. The Les Esclozes hut is maintained. A water supply channel is operational. This place was once an important settlement, as evidenced by the number of collapsed huts and barns. The route appears to correspond tothe PR® (no. 19), which is clearly marked in the opposite direction to the description.

Belvédère du Mont Né (Mont Né viewpoint) is a fitting name for this mountain, as the views you will discover throughout this hike are breathtaking. In good weather, this route does not present any major difficulties. What's more, you will start from Port de Balès, a famous stage of the Tour de France.

A fantastic panoramic hike, winding its way between Haute-Garonne and the Hautes-Pyrénées, with the ascent of Mont Né and Lac de Bordères as the destination.

A beautiful hike that can be done with the family and children who are used to walking, starting from the well-known Port de Balès (altitude 1755 m) (Tour de France cycling race). The summit of Mont Né (altitude 2,147 metres) offers beautiful views of the central Pyrenees and the magnificent Lac de Bordères or Lac de Bareilles. From Pic du Lion (altitude 2,102 metres), there is a safe aerial path along the Crête de la Coume du Lion. The cromlech at Port de Pierrefite is also worth noting.

A large circular route passing through Soulan from Saint-Lary-Soulan, taking tracks, paths and the road through Soulan, marked in yellow. Signs indicate this large circular route and also a shortcut for the small one. The access path to the circular route is steep but the rest is easy.

A very beautiful hike through the summer pastures of Aulon. Best done after the transhumance so you can enjoy the many herds of cows and sheep. You will pass by huts, walk along and cross streams, and walk through meadows full of flowers.

A short walk through the wilderness, passing close to Courtaou d'Artigussy and Les Esclozes. A few leytès (traditional milk coolers) and building ruins bear witness to the area's former pastoral activity.

An easy hike apart from the climb to Sailhan, which is steep but on a good, very passable path. Yellow markings are faded or non-existent in places, but the Xs indicating the wrong direction are clearly visible.

The view of the mountains and the valley, at the top of Génos, is superb, and the little paths are very charming, with a section along the shore of Lake Génos-Loudenvielle. Thiswalk is also featured on the Vallée du Louron website.

A magnificent snowshoe hike, mainly along ridges, with sumptuous views of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees. Please read the practical information and description at the waypoint (2) and between waypoints (4) and (5) before attempting this challenging snowshoe hike.

A balcony route leading from Saint-Lary-Soulan to Tramezaïgues, its Romanesque church, its castle ruins and back via the balcony on the other side of the valley to Vignec.Some pretty views and villages.Note: the hike is called Chemin des Traques by the Tourist Office and is marked in yellow all along the way.

The second stage of the Ténarèze, at the bottom of the Aure valley, runs alongside the Neste river through fields. In places, the path widens, suggesting the trace of the old drovers' road, particularly near the Nourde footbridge. A peaceful route that passes through several small rural villages set on a plain ideal for resting herds before the climb to the summer pastures.

This long hike, varied by its succession of landscapes, will allow you to discover three lakes tucked away in a mountainous world enveloped in silence and solitude. A hike for nature lovers.

Pass by the Puits de la Pindorle, then follow the ridge to Cap de Castillon. 360° view of the ridge from the Signal de Bassia. Caution: steep descent from Cap de Castillon.

This hike can be done with or without snow... On the evening of 13 July 1944, seven British and Canadian airmen from the Royal Air Force took off to resupply the Nistos maquis. The Halifax aircraft crashed into the Pic du Douly. The airmen did not survive and were buried on site. Debris from the aircraft is still visible today. All this calls for silence and contemplation...

Starting from the Col de Peyresourde, this is a demanding hike that takes place almost entirely along the ridge, offering magnificent views of the Larboust valley in the foreground and, beyond, the many peaks of over 3,000 metres in the Luchonnais.

Not far from Bagnères-de-Luchon, there is a beautiful balcony walk offering magnificent views of the ridge on the border with Spain. Not to mention two very beautiful valleys and a few charming mountain villages, which hide architectural treasures that are well worth a visit.
