Park in the hikers' car park 50 m before arriving at Granges de Lurgues (above Aulon).
Parking is not permitted in the Granges de Lurgues car park further up, which is reserved for residents.
The route is marked with yellow signs (PR®) all along the way.
(S/E) Join the road. Turn right and continue for about 100 m towards Les Granges de Lurgues.
(1) Take the path on the left which slopes gently away from the barns, towards the north-west, among the hazelnut trees. After 10 minutes, the slope becomes steeper and then, in the open, the path crosses a stream to reach a fork (elevation 1553).
(2) At the fork, turn right (signposted Arbizon). In 10 minutes, the path emerges above the hazelnut trees, turning northwards. You will pass above the Cabane d'Espigous. Continue along this path, which climbs up the valley. Stay on the left bank of the main ravine. Continue the ascent to the Fontaine de Coulariot.
(3) Water gushes from a vertical crack. Turn right into a granite chimney, then cross the grassy slopes to reach another small rocky outcrop, which you can climb without difficulty.
(4) Cross the small pass at an altitude of around 2,300 metres. The summit is in sight. The path climbs up the large scree slope to the east, then heads left towards a small ridge.
(5) Reach the ridge at 2,660 metres. Leaving the ridge, the path heads diagonally to a grassy shoulder on the southern ridge of the peak. It then heads north to reach the summit of Arbizon (2,831 metres).
(6) The summit offers a splendid 360° view.
Descend via the same route back to the car park (S/E).
