Access: From Lannemezan, head towards Saint-Lary-Soulan on the D929. When you reach Arreau, turn left onto the D618 towards Bordère-Louron, Loudenvielle, on the left bank of the Neste du Louron. When you reach Avajan, turn left, crossing to the other bank of the Neste, and continue on the D618. Before arriving at Estarvielle, turn left, continuing on the D618. When you reach Loudervielle, turn completely left, still following the D618. After a large right-hand bend, turn left (at an altitude of 1,240 m) onto the D130. You will reach Mont via a left-hand bend. Park on the right in the car park at the entrance to the village. The road is a dead end.
There are yellow markings on this hike, but they correspond to an established route. You should therefore use these markings as a guide, but not follow them blindly.
(S/E) From the car park, head west towards the village. After 100m, turn right onto a steep path that leads to the gravel road at the top of the village. Turn right, heading east, and follow this road, which overlooks the tarmac road and becomes a track.
(1) Turn left after the barn, leaving a path that climbs to the left and a bridge that crosses the Poudaque stream to the right. Stay on the right bank of the stream. Head north and you will come to a fork in the path.
(2) Continue straight ahead, climbing up a well-marked path. After 100 metres, the path turns north-east. Continue climbing, following the yellow markings, until you reach a flat area (altitude 1614 metres) with a scrap metal enclosure and a water tank.
(3) Turn right again towards the north-east, following the fence posts on the ridge to reach Cap de Tuquet (altitude 1844).
(4) Head due east, following the ridge. Pass the altitude 1837m and continue along the ridge to reach Cap de Peyrehicade (elevation 1915m). This is a beautiful spot to rest and admire the magnificent 360° landscape.
(5) Now it's time to think about the return journey. Turn around and head back towards Cap du Tuquet.
(4) Turn right towards the north-west, following the ridge downhill to reach a track at an elevation of 1722 metres.
(6) Head completely to the left, heading south-southeast, following the track. Yellow markings and posts will help you. Cross a valley. The track descends gently southwards. Return to the junction you passed on the way out.
(3) Follow the path in the opposite direction to the ascent, descending.
Head towards the village, which is in perfect condition and has been very well restored. Turn left and return to the car park (S/E).
