The slate workers’ path from Génos

The starting point is in the car park of Génos Town Hall.

(S/E) With your back to the town hall, take the first street on the right, then turn right again onto Rue du Graouail, and take the hairpin bend to the left onto Chemin du Laïris. This leads onto the D25.

(1) Turn right onto this road and follow it to Rue de l’Église.

(2) Turn right, go past the cemetery and the church, and continue along the path that goes round the Tour de Génos, and reach the footbridge over Lac de Génos.

(3) Cross it and reach the D25, which you follow to the left until the hairpin bend.

(4) Enter the woods and follow the path that passes under a power line, then veers northwards to rejoin the D25. Follow this road again, cross the village of Armenteule, and continue to the bend by the cemetery.

(5) Turn left, walk past the cemetery and the church, and follow the small Chemin Saint-Elits. Cross the Neste du Louron via a footbridge, and reach a small road; follow it to the right towards Adervielle. Cross the D25 with care, and follow Rue des Écoles opposite. At the end, turn left.

(7) Follow the small path into the woods, turn right on the uphill stretch, and continue to a fork.

(8) Turn right to head back down to Génos: the slope is a bit steep. Join the D25.

(1) Follow the route back in the opposite direction to reach the car park at Génos Town Hall (S/E).
