A lovely walk, though very busy, leading to two magnificent little beaches situated back-to-back. Magnificent views.

A very easy walk around Lake Tourliac, along the Brayssou, a small tributary of the Dropt. Plenty of birds (mallards, teals, wigeons, etc.). It largely follows the contour line along a footpath. As this is a reservoir, the walk is more pleasant in spring, when the lake is full.

A mixed walk (forest paths and small roads) around the bastide town of Monpazier. A complete immersion in the undergrowth and in a countryside that has hardly changed in over 50 years. A truly remote spot. Updated at the request of a local resident, the start of this hike has been moved to Saint-Cassien, near the village church.

A hike starting from the magnificent bastide town of Monpazier in the south of the Périgord Pourpre. Small paths and chestnut tree undergrowth. The walk is quite long, but the elevation gain is low. Enough to spend a very good afternoon (or morning).

Starting from Sare, a beautiful little village in the Basque Country, a short hike allows you to discover the beautiful landscape around the village.

The village of Saint-Avit-Sénieur is built around an old abbey surrounded by rich land and beautiful chestnut groves. There are many hiking trails around the village. This walk is inspired by one of them, but is a little shorter. This means it can easily be done in half a day. The first part follows theGR® trail and takes you through undergrowth and meadows, while the second part mainly follows paved local roads.

Starting from the village of San Pantaleo, a magnificent circular route through the maquis around a rocky outcrop with stunning views over north-eastern and north-western Sardinia. A short section of the walk is quite difficult (scree) but the rest follows a well-maintained path. Although signposting is virtually non-existent (just small cairns), it is hard to go wrong apart from at the junctions.

Near Arzachena (Sardinia), a short, very easy walk (ideal with children) between two archaeological sites: the “Tomb of the Giants of Coddu Vecchiu” and “Nuraghe La Prisgiona”. Partly on roads, partly through heath. Best visited out of season due to the high number of visitors to these sites in the height of summer. Including the visits, this walk will take between one and a half and two hours.

A very pleasant circular route along the hillsides, particularly in hot weather as it is mostly shaded, with the opportunity to enjoy a nice swim at "La Baume" (or Beaume). Old chestnut plantations, cobbled paths, terraces and landscapes characteristic of the Ardèche make this walk an opportunity to discover the region without any major difficulty. This route follows yellow markings with fitness equipment that is no longer maintained.

The Païolive forest is an ancient forest in the south of the Ardèche, occupied since prehistoric times, with a remarkable geological context and biodiversity. It overlooks the Chassezac gorges. In this karstic landscape, there are numerous zoomorphic rocks, a multitude of trails and viewpoints, not to mention many caves. Much of the walk is shaded. Really very nice.

If you have an hour or two to spare in Conhilac-Corbières – at the end of the day, for example – this quick walk offers a lovely view over the Obieu valley, which is in fact the route from Toulouse to the Mediterranean for the motorway, the train and so on, with the Pyrenees in the background. The walk takes you past a field of wind turbines, giving you the chance to see for yourself the impact of this type of development.

Walk in the forest and along sunken paths typical of this region of north-western Lot, starting from the village of Les Arques. Very green landscape in summer, pretty undergrowth in a very wild environment (passing close to only three residences). Most of the walk is off paved roads, on local lanes. Some very pretty views. This walk is marked on the IGN map and is signposted in yellow on the ground.

A short walk with little elevation gain, allowing you to discover an old mill (5) hidden at the bottom of the valley, all in a very Mediterranean setting. The return trip through the hamlet of Bavancel offers magnificent views.

The village of Banne is charming and the view from the ruins of the castle, destroyed during the Revolution, is quite breathtaking. The walk described here is very short and easy, unless you prefer not to walk on a stony path. Perfect as a pre-dinner or after-dinner stroll.

The village of Vogüé is very busy in the summer and parking is a real challenge. From the hamlet of Les Chazes, situated on the plateau above Vogüé, you can enjoy a lovely walk and take in splendid views of the village, the castle and the Ardèche valley without the drawbacks of the site’s overcrowding.

Urval is a small, unassuming village on the outskirts of the Bergerac–Sarlat road; there are several walking trails, marked in yellow, which are very interesting. This walk begins with a fairly steep climb at the start, though it is shaded, leading to a magnificent little hamlet at the end, followed by a superb descent with a beautiful view of the valley before climbing up the opposite slope and passing in front of the Château de la Poujade (private); finishing with a descent towards the village with its church and communal bakery (halfway along the route, there is also the option of taking a more direct route to the village of Urval via the road at the bottom of the valley). This route alternates between footpaths and roads with very little traffic, except, in summer, on the section at the bottom of the valley.

This circular loop starting from Naussannes presents virtually no difficulty, apart from a few slightly steep metres. It offers the chance to explore the countryside around this small village, with lovely shaded sections in a well-preserved environment and vegetation typical of the Périgord’s limestone soils. There are some lovely views of the bastide of Beaumont-du-Périgord. Well worth exploring, for example, on a lovely summer’s afternoon.

A circular loop to the east of the village of Carlux, mostly shaded, with magnificent views, small valleys of remarkable tranquillity, and beautiful Périgord houses. Not to be missed if you have two hours to spare.

A short, quick walk starting from La Roque-Gageac through the woodland and away from the crowds during busy periods. It offers some beautiful views of the circular river bend whilst enjoying plenty of shaded sections. The final section takes place in the upper part of the village, right at the foot of the cliff, where you can add to the experience by exploring a unique botanical garden situated around the church and the town hall.

Hiking in Seoraksan National Park (Seorak District) 설악산국립공원 설악동지구Accessible from SOKSHO by bus (city bus), very well marked and equipped, as in all the parks we visited in South Korea. Extremely pleasant in spring; must be extraordinary with the colours of autumn. It feels like a stroll in a city park, even though you are surrounded by nature. Access to some very beautiful viewpoints.

This walk in the heart of Odaesan National Park in South Korea allows you to see two beautiful temples in unspoilt natural surroundings in very comfortable conditions (the paths are marked and extremely well equipped, as is usual in South Korea - at least from what I have seen).

An easy walk whatever the season, very shaded in summer as it runs through woodland, but still manageable in winter. A gentle, unchallenging climb offering views of a landscape typical of southern Périgord: a small valley, woodland of oak and chestnut trees, a stone house with a traditional Périgord roof, a park with a château (not open to visitors) and a small 12th-century church.

A very easy and pleasant hike around Île Grande, near Trébeurden and Trégastel. This hike follows theGR® trail, completely circling the island via a path just above the foreshore. The landscapes are magnificent, with lots of moorland, small coves and sandy beaches. There are some very pretty views of the sea. There are no hills (unless you want to climb up to the viewpoint on the rock to the north of the island) and the path is very well maintained. A peaceful walk par excellence.

A very pleasant walk from Trébeurden harbour to Pointe de Bihit and back via the upper part of the town: stunning views over Lannion Bay and the large Trébeurden beach. Two-thirds of the walk takes place in the heart of the countryside on a very well-maintained path. A lovely way to discover the typical coastline of this part of Brittany.

A very useful alternative in hot (or very hot) weather, this walk largely follows the classic route from Lumio to Occi (a ruined village above Lumio). This short walk still allows you to enjoy magnificent views of the Bay of Calvi and the village of Lumio in a short space of time if you don't want to walk too far.

A very easy hike starting from the Bonifatu Forest House allows those who do not want to or cannot do one of the many more technical hikes starting from this magnificent spot to discover a preserved natural area. The walk follows the valley floor and is not difficult, but it offers beautiful views of the surrounding peaks with the possibility of swimming in the river below. However, access can sometimes be a little tricky.

An easy walk below the village of Felicito: typical mule tracks; two pretty Genoese bridges; a swimming spot; beautiful views of the surrounding mountains of Balagne.

A fairly short, easily accessible walk that follows a route well known to trail running enthusiasts: do not try to keep up with those training for the Diagonale des Fous. A quick and deep immersion in nature in the Ravine des Citrons; beautiful views, lots of vegetation and birds. Beautiful view of the ravine and the river before starting the climb.

If you're worried about a more "challenging" hike, here's a short circular that allows you to enjoy beautiful views of the Plaine des Palmistes and a quick but exciting exploration of the forest.

If you have between half an hour and 45 minutes to spend in the magnificent Bébour Forest, especially with children, here is a very pretty walk that starts in undergrowth filled with arums (ideal in hot, humid weather) and continues in an enchanted forest atmosphere with lichen, twisted trees, etc. Absolutely no difficulty walking.

Located on the Rivière des Roches, these two pools are very well known and always have water, even at the end of the dry season. The walk is a round trip from Bassin de la Paix to Bassin de la Mer via a very easy trail with numerous viewpoints, particularly over Bassin de la Mer, which is paradoxically located upstream. Ideal for children (under supervision, however). The ground is fairly clayey with few stones, except around the second pool.

On the southern edge of the Larzac Plateau, this walk offers magnificent views of the landscapes below the plateau, stretching almost as far as the sea. Part of the route is shaded (pine forest), but generally the vegetation is typical of southern Larzac (dry, open grasslands with a rich and varied flora). Very flower-filled in spring.

An easy and very pleasant walk in spring in a setting typical of southern Larzac. Magnificent views around the Cantercel area. It allows you to discover several unusual spots: the “Aven de Vitalis” karstic cave, the Goutal spring and a boat perched on the mountain...

Iraklia is a small island in the Cyclades, south of Naxos; although not very busy, it nevertheless offers pleasant facilities (restaurants and accommodation, most of which remain traditional). The circular route described here allows you to explore the centre of the island, starting from the harbour (the island’s only one), so no special transport is needed to reach the starting point. You’ll also see the island’s other village (Panaghia), situated in the centre of the island. The first part follows dirt tracks and the rest follows the island’s only road (which is very quiet), passing by the magnificent Livadi beach

An incredibly peaceful and easy walk which, following the River Ouysse, allows you to discover a place that feels somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of modern life. To begin with, there is a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Belcastel Castle. Then, after Les Bertoux, the River Ouysse winds its way through a canyon with no human habitation apart from the few mills that dot the route on the opposite bank. Shaded for almost the entire route, in summer you can enjoy the cool breeze from the river, and finally, you arrive at the fortified mill of Cougnaguet, which you may wish to visit.

A walk through the forest between Monpazier and Villefranche-du-Périgord; very easy on limestone and dirt tracks; very little walking on tarmac roads. Shaded for much of the route, though there may be a few muddy patches in wet weather. Ideal for exploring the forest of southern Périgord.

This walk, starting from the hamlet of Campu, reaches the ridge above the Luri valley and takes you past the chapel and bell tower of San Salvatore before reaching the abandoned hamlet of Mata, offering a superb view over the Luri valley as far as the sea, with the Island of Elba in the background. Largely shaded, the route follows paths that are mostly very well maintained; the yellow markings are a little sporadic, but the trail is very clear. The downside of the shaded conditions is that there are relatively few viewpoints, though those that do exist are always very beautiful.

This short walk is an alternative to the ascent to the Tower of Seneca. It allows you to set off directly from the Col de Santa Lucia along a track (not a road) that is relatively easier: no scree and few exposed rocks. The path is very well maintained; it follows the ridge along the watershed, offering breathtaking views over the Luri valley with the Island of Elba in the background and, at times, even Italy. On the final stretch, you can also enjoy the view to the west and of Seneca’s Tower on the other side of the pass. As this is a round trip, the duration can easily be adjusted to suit your preferences. Much of the route is shaded by the maquis.

A superb circular walk above Ponticellu, in the municipality of Pietracorbara. The first section passes through the village before heading into woodland to reach Oreta and Selmace. You then move into the second section, which alternates between woodland and maquis. There are two very beautiful Genoese bridges, with a deep pool beneath the first one that’s ideal for a swim. In many places, you can enjoy magnificent views of the cirque that surrounds the area.

This walk offers a splendid panoramic view of the Patrimonio valley and its vineyards, in conditions that are very rare in Corsica over this distance: a wide, easy-to-walk path that winds along the mountainside. It is therefore a very easy route, though it does involve some elevation gain. Above all, it offers extraordinary views of the vineyards, the limestone cliffs and the sea between the hills. Best done at the end of the day in hot weather, or very early in the morning to catch the beautiful light that photographers will appreciate. The only slightly frustrating thing is that it’s a return trip.
