Bonifatu Forest, on the banks of the Figarella

A very easy hike starting from the Bonifatu Forest House allows those who do not want to or cannot do one of the many more technical hikes starting from this magnificent spot to discover a preserved natural area. The walk follows the valley floor and is not difficult, but it offers beautiful views of the surrounding peaks with the possibility of swimming in the river below. However, access can sometimes be a little tricky.

Description of the walk

The walk starts at the end of the car park opposite the forest house below the inn.

(S/E) Go through the barrier that restricts car access to the castine path (white limestone) and follow the path that winds along the bottom of the valley. Enjoy the scenery on a wide, well-maintained path with a fairly gentle slope. Continue to the end of the forest path where you will find a turning area for cars.

(1) Turn around and return to the car park (S/E).

Waypoints

  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 534 m - parking forêt de Bonifato
  2. 1 : km 1.39 - alt. 622 m - The trail ends at Castine - Figarella (fleuve)
  3. S/E : km 2.78 - alt. 534 m - parking forêt de Bonifato

Notes

There is shaded parking, but be aware that this place is very busy in high season.

This circuit is a family walk par excellence and is suitable for young children as well as people who want to enjoy the setting of the Bonifatu Forest without too much physical effort. It follows a fairly wide and well-maintained forest path, so no special footwear is required.

There is a stopover lodge near the forest house, where you can get food and refreshments. However, remember to bring some water with you.

Worth a visit

In many places, passages through the vegetation provide access to the Figarella, where you can swim; however, getting down and back up can sometimes be quite challenging.

Very easy path. Shady. As an added bonus, you can go down into the stream to cool off, as the water level is very low in September
