(S/E) Departure opposite the church in Planzolle: shaded parking available. Take the D250 down towards the Embrussiers stream.
(1) Turn left onto the forest track (unpaved) which leads to Fayolle; this route is partly shaded and offers views of some beautiful terraced gardens.
(2) At Fayolle (a very large two-storey house undergoing restoration), leave the forest track and follow the path down to the right towards the Embrussiers stream.
(3) Cross the stream via a bridge and follow the path that climbs slightly towards Le Destel.
(4) At this point, it is no longer possible to follow the path shown on the maps; you must therefore make a sharp right turn and continue up the hill, following the white and yellow markings (note that the path is well marked and clearly well used).
(5) At this point, a sign indicates the direction of the mill, which is located on the right, about fifty metres below in the stream bed. It is a fine example of the judicious use of a river bed to install a water mill.
Going up from the mill, continue towards the hamlet of Bavancel.
(6) Cross the hamlet following the narrow streets and passing under very old porches (approximate route shown here). Join the road.
(7) Turn right towards Planzolle, following the D250 asphalt road.
(8) At this point, there are two options:
- you can take the path on the right, which descends to the stream and joins the forest path at an elevation of 465 metres, then turn left to find the fork you passed on the way there.
- Continue along the asphalt road as described in this guide and return to the fork you passed on the way there.
(1) Head back up towards the village of Planzolle to reach the car park near the church (S/E).
