Cusy walks

Right from the start, there is a steep climb from Cusy to reach the Chalet du Trousset. The route then mostly follows beautiful trails and paths through the woods, offering lovely views in places. The Visorando app is highly recommended.

From the footbridge at Cusy, take the right bank up the Chéran gorges and the left bank down after crossing the spectacular "Pont de l'Abîme". This well-maintained itinerary allows you to discover the wildest part of one of Europe's last natural rivers.

These two easy loops form a figure of 8, on low-traffic roads, tracks and paths through fields and woods. They offer beautiful views of the Clergeon, the Bauges mountains, the Semnoz and even Lake Bourget. They also pass through the villages of Saint-Ours and Chainaz-Les-Frasses, offering views of the Château de Fésigny.

The Saint-Jacques Towers are a group of three monoliths that have broken away from the cliff and continue to slide 2 to 3 cm per year. The suggested route allows you to see them from different angles, from above and below. Along the way, note the paved road and the massive log barns.

A beautiful, easy hike on the Semnoz plateau. Numerous panoramic views throughout the hike.

This loop allows you to discover the north-eastern tip of the Plateau du Revard. The gentle, rolling terrain offers views of the Bauges mountains, Lake Bourget and, at the highest point, a more extensive view of the Alps and Mont Blanc. A short detour to the Autel du Curé will take you in the footsteps of the Revolutionary Terror in Savoie.

From the spectacular canyon at the Pont du Diable, this hike takes you to the sawmills, one of which has been restored by local heritage enthusiasts. The return route takes you through the pretty village of Bellecombe-en-Bauges

The Roc des Bœufs ridge offers magnificent views of the Bauges peaks and the Annecy basin.

A short family walk that leads to a beautiful view from the Croix des Bergers. No problem for children in good weather, of course. Allow 2½ hours for the round trip.

A family hike near Rumilly that allows you to discover the right bank of the Chéran and the Albanais valleys around Boussy. The name of the circuit comes from the Croison de Boussy, a local variety of small apples that is said to have been introduced to the region by Napoleon's grognards.

An easy walk offering a variety of landscapes, points of interest and pleasant views of Lake Bourget. In autumn, you can find chestnuts and mushrooms.

This is an extension of the snowshoe circuit described this winter. The Roc de Four Magnin is not named on IGN maps, but the 1645m point is marked. If necessary, here are its GPS coordinates: UTM E 0280 525; N 5069 500.

A family walk with a return trip taking around two hours, including a visit to the cave. A simpler version of the existing hike, the Combe aux Moines and the Grotte des Fées, which is a little long for young children. This is a hike with magnificent views of Lake Bourget, the Chat Mountains, the Chartreuse Mountains, as well as the Albanais and Bauges regions, on a well-maintained path.

This loop starts in Brison and climbs to the Croix de Meyrieu, then follows the ridge line to La Chambotte and returns to the starting point via a path through old vineyards. This walk offers numerous views of Lake Bourget.

A lovely getaway in the Bauges mountains, with a round trip to the Pointe de Banc Plat (one of the two main peaks of the Montagne du Charbon). Although not very high, the Pointe de Banc Plat offers a remarkable panoramic view (the Montagne du Charbon is the northern part of the Trelod chain). The forest trail at the foot of the Montagne du Charbon is splendid.

An easy hike in the heart of the Bauges, but you will need to take your hands out of your pockets at times on certain sections of the ridge. Panoramic view of the surrounding peaks: Trélod, Dent de Pleuven, Dent des Portes, Mont Colombier.

L'Orionde is not the best known or most popular spot on this circuit, but it offers panoramic views to the east and west. The most famous site is, of course, the Croix du Nivolet, which, for once, happens to be on the route. All in all, a beautiful loop with a succession of panoramic views.

This hike follows the Tannes et Glacières trail and is rounded off with a visit to the faults of Mont Margeriaz. To make the most of the Tannes et Glacières trail, pick up the little guidebook on sale at the tourist office in Aillon le Jeune.

Half-day family hike from the village of Moye. The climb at the start offers views of the Rumilly plain and the Haut-Savoyard foothills. The second part of the circuit takes you through the various hamlets of Moye, not forgetting the little extras: the small waterfall and the bridge over the Rivière du Parmand.

An atypical route through bushes and over Annecy's lake.

Mont Clergeon, with its summit at over 1,000 metres, is not one of the most popular peaks in Savoie. However, it offers a 360° view of the Rhône valley and the Bauges, Aravis and Mont Blanc mountains. The route is mostly shaded.

The route passes through the countryside, following little-used paths and roads, and is extremely well signposted. You can't go wrong if you follow the signs. Lovely view of La Tournette when arriving and leaving Vaulx (highest point of the route).

This hike takes place in a setting dear to Lamartine. The first part, which runs alongside Lac du Bourget, offers beautiful views, and a good climb leads to the Chapelle Notre-Dame de l'Étoile. Be sure to linger around the building and take advantage of the facilities to admire the panorama. On the way back through the forest, there are other viewpoints over the Savoyard countryside. Finally, the descent to Bourdeau also offers some sought-after views. 19/09/2023 Message from the moderator: the section between (2) and (3) is very steep and slippery on the way up and requires a good level of fitness for around 500 m. Some sections between (8) and (9) are also slippery on the way down. This route should be attempted in dry weather. Not recommended for young children.

It is almost a suburban walk, not too busy during the week. And yet you are already in the Bauges with its characteristic buildings. From the start to the waterfall, you are on theGR®96. Then, from the pass to the ridge trail via Mont Peney, you are on the GRP®.

An extremely easy walk in the heart of Annecy (because even city dwellers are allowed to take a stroll), along the famous lake spillway: the Thiou. A flat walk through the trees, dotted with numerous wash houses, mills and ducks... Ideal for a short stroll after lunch or a family outing.

A must-do hike for locals, this short trip to the Dent du Nivolet offers a beautiful 360° panorama of Lac du Bourget, Chartreuse, Belledonne, Beaufortain and Mont Blanc.
