Description of the walk

On the D911, at the junction with the D912, north of Lescheraines, park in front of the artisan chocolate shop or a little further down, at the edge of the old disused road.

Yellow and redGRP®® markings

(S/E) Continue along the small disused road, quickly find the La Chaniaz marker and continue towards Pont de Prérouge. This old road runs slightly below the D911 (which is busy and therefore noisy). At the end of the road, continue along the path that joins the D911 and then immediately turns left after a few metres. Further on, it climbs back up to the road and then descends to the left after a few metres. You will come out at a small car park.

(1) At the Pont de Prérouge signpost, continue straight on towards Arith. Just after this, you will find an information panel about the caves. Cross the bridge and you will find more information panels (geosite). Leave the cave entrance on your right (the cave is not equipped but is freely accessible), then the lodge on your left (note the resurgence in the lodge's garden).

(2) At the fork in the path, go left and, at the next fork, keep left again. Further on, a footpath leads down to the banks of the Chéran, to a very pretty spot.

(3) Follow the outward route in reverse to return to the chocolate factory (S/E).

Notes

Difficulty: Easy, but the narrow path is steep in places, so standard hiking equipment is required.
Bring a torch if you want to venture into the cave, as it is not equipped.
Please note that from the path below the D911, traffic noise is omnipresent (more or less annoying depending on traffic).

The time indicated for the hike is greatly overestimated. However, the site is very beautiful and cool on a hot day.
