From Le Châtelard, head towards École and immediately turn left onto the small road called Les Garins, which you follow up to the hamlet of Chez Garins, where there is a car park at the crossroads.
(S/E) From the car park, return to the houses and head north on the Mont road until you reach the first crossroads (sign).
continue straight ahead along the forest track. When it climbs to the right, continue straight ahead to the stream des Granges area, then climb a few hairpin bends on the right at Chez Berge.
(2) 100 m after the4th bend, climb straight up the slope on the right along an old marked forest track which joins the track you left earlier: take it to the right until you reach the junction with the first forest track coming from the right. Turn left and continue gently uphill to the Col du Plane.
(3) Take the forest road on the right, which descends slightly to the car park on the road from Mont Devant (altitude 1335 m).
(4) Bear right onto the well-marked path that runs along the western flank of the ridge at Bois d'Enfer. It climbs slightly and eventually joins the ridge as it descends.
(5) Turn sharply right to take the ridge, which is steep at first; a few turns to the right allow you to climb up the muddiest part.
Gradually, the slope becomes gentler. Leave the path descending to Goulet de Doucy on the left and climb the ridge path to the Sept 2000 viewpoint.
(6) What follows is a series of small descents and ascents, becoming increasingly rocky until you reach the secondary summit (1662 metres).
(7) From the secondary summit to the main summit, the path passes through the rocks and crosses a breach before climbing again. Two passages are equipped with fixed knotted ropes to make them easier to cross.
(8) From the summit (cross), continue along the rocky ridge which descends into the forest. The path then becomes less steep, gradually passing along the right side of the ridge, then turning more sharply to the right to descend a forest track to a storage area at the end of a forest road.
(9) Take the path opposite, heading due west and descending straight down the slope along a ravine
(10) Cross another forest road to reach a fence opening onto a meadow where the trail descends to near the Refuge des Garins.
The access road to the farm leads back to the Garins crossroads.
