To get to the starting point, take the D913 road that connects Aix-les-Bains to Mont Revard and park in the car park at the side of the road opposite the starting point, or a little higher up, at the signposted Crolles car park.
(S/E) From the D913, take the carriageway that leads to the Chalets de Crolles. After 150 m, take a right at the fork. (Be careful, the signs indicate the Croix du Berger on the left, but this is for snowshoes, not on foot). Continue along this path, which can be slightly muddy in wet weather.
(1) After 600 metres, ignore a path that branches off to the right. Continue for 800 metres until you reach a fork.
(2) The path that descends to the left leads to the Chalets de Gralette, from where you can go directly to the cross via a footpath. It is better to continue on the correct path, which describes a large arc to the left, leaving a first path on the right after 150 metres and then a second path after another 150 metres.
Pass three pretty alpine chalets on your left, descend slightly, staying on the correct path, and find a path that turns 180° to the left.
(3) Follow it. At the next bend, you will rejoin the path coming from Gralette. Continue slightly downhill on the path and climb back up, crossing a protected wetland (avoid leaving the path in this area).
Pass a chalet on your left and, between two fences, a sign indicates the Croix des Bergers.
From there, the path is rather unpredictable. Look for a solitary pine tree slightly above the cottage and from there a path will lead you to the cross without any difficulty.
(4) Return to the car park (S/E) by following the same route you took on the way there.
(1) Be careful to keep to the right.
be careful at the start, as it is located a little lower than the indicated car park and you may be confused by the large ski slopes that criss-cross the area and take you to different canyons (even though it looks like they all connect)!
