Description of the walk

Park near the Sévrier Town Hall square.

(S/E) Go back up the road towards Annecy (D1508) and turn left onto the road going uphill after 200 metres. Keep going on this road and pass the place called Létraz.

(1) Turn left to enter the woods. There are three paths leading to the crosses (Croix du Chuguet, Croix du Crêt), but we chose to take the third one, "Superpanorama de la Grande Jeanne".
The climb is steep for about 45 minutes, but the entire loop is in the woods, sheltered from the sun's rays.

(2) At a crossroads, turn left towards the south and continue to the Croix Chuguet.

(3) At the Croix du Chuguet, there is a superb panoramic view of Lake Annecy with the La Tournette massif in the background.
The path through the woods becomes easier as it runs along the mountain. There is a short steep descent to the Croix du Crêt (then climb back up to rejoin the original path).

(4) Continue along the easy, undulating path to the Croix du Chef Lieu (superb view).

(5) The descent via the chalet trail is very steep and can be dangerous in wet conditions.

(6) Join the D912 and follow it to the left until you reach a roundabout. Continue left on the D1508 to return to the town hall car park (S/E).

I love this hike. It's quite short when starting from Les Puisots, but the view over Lake Annecy is incredible. The hike is longer when starting from Annecy and going via Grande Jeanne. It's brilliant!

The hike was very difficult for us. It was rated as "moderate"... It should have been rated as "difficult". We are used to hiking, but we are not professionals! My husband fell on the way down, as the trail was rocky and slippery in places... However, the weather was beautiful and the view from the top was magnificent.

Magnificent views once you reach the ridge... but you have to get there first: it's a tough climb, as the contour lines show.

Well frequented in mid-July: obviously, it's not Rue Sainte Claire, but you're not alone either. Lots of foreigners but easy conversation.

Unobstructed views of Lake Annecy and the surrounding mountains.
Forest trail, which is very pleasant in hot weather.

A pleasant hike in the forest, with a steep climb and descent but accessible to all.

Two beautiful views of the lake, I recommend it.

Thanks for sharing this route!

Superb hike.
The views of the lake are magnificent.
Moderate to difficult.
Hiking boots are essential.
In July, we only came across three other couples.
According to my pedometer, I covered 8 km with an elevation gain of 418 m.
The final descent can be tricky in wet weather.
Enjoy the hike✌️

Very beautiful hike (only a tiny part is a bit sad, where bulldozers have been clearing diseased pine trees, but otherwise everything else is perfect, wonderful). Exceptional view from the three crosses. The lake looked like a lagoon with its emerald green colour, splendid. Thank you, Visorando

A lovely short hike that takes about an hour and a half.
It's also a nice place for trail runners, and the views of the lake are 🫶🏼

Two magnificent viewpoints. The hike is well shaded (except for the road section). Personally, I think it's better to do it in the opposite direction because I don't like descents and it's particularly steep at the beginning.
