Lizartzu Antsestegi Otxondo Pass from Urdax
This is a beautiful hike starting in the pretty village of Urdax, crossing the Otxondo Pass road to reach the Lizartzu Antsestegi ridge. You then reach the Otxondo Pass and return to Urdax via the Saint James trail.

A loop starting from Puerto Otsondo
On this 10km route, which is not very physically demanding, you can admire the Bastan valley and the Elizako Erreka stream. There are also sheepfolds, the calm of the Basque mountains and encounters with pottoks and ponies.
Zapitor and Mendabio from Etxebertzeko Borda
A lovely walk that includes a visit to a moving mill steeped in history, but also takes in the surrounding peaks as you climb up from a beautiful Navarrese forest.
Le Foz de Lumbier
The Foz de Lumbier is a gorge carved out of the mountain by the Irati River. Both ends are narrow, making it an exceptional nature reserve. The Foz can be traversed without difficulty via a path that follows the route of an old railroad line.
The Alkurruntz tour from Urdax
From the beautiful little Navarran village of Urdax, we set off to conquer Alkuruntz. There are several picnic spots to choose from and the view is magnificent on both the French and Spanish sides.
Mendibil ascent via Col d'Ibaineta from Col d'Urbia
A beautiful hike that in a short space of time will give you a 360° view of the Basque Country, all the way to the Landes coast on a clear day.
The flora and fauna will not leave you indifferent.
Les Gorra and Barda (Akomendi) from Itzulegi circular
This circular route covers the peaks of the "Gorra" mountain range between 850 m and 1100 m above sea level. The 360° panorama from the ridges offers a selection of images of the Basque Country, including the Baztan valley (Alkurruntz, Autza), the Iparla mountain range, the green hills of Gorospil, Mondarrain, and the Sare valley with... La Rhune. The return trail to the west crosses a beautiful forest of oak and pine trees and several small, very bucolic streams.
Peña del Fraile
A round trip takes you to the Peña del Fraile, from where you can enjoy a marvellous 360° view of the Bardena Negra, less well-known but less frequented than the Bardena Blanca. The path is relatively well marked, with numerous cairns along the way.
The Zugarramurdi Oak and some caves
A lovely walk starting from the beautiful village of Les Sorcières. Magnificent views of the Basque peaks and the ocean in the distance.
A short loop in the Bardenas desert
This short stroll will give you a complete and highly exotic overview of what the Bardenas desert has to offer in terms of difficulties and landscapes, and is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
The desert is open from 8.00 a.m. until one hour before sunset.
Depending on the bird nesting season, there is strictly no access to certain parts of the desert.
The Txarrantxarri goshawks from Vera along the Napoleon tracks
A beautiful loop from the charming village of Vera de Bidassoa with a magnificent view of La Rhune on the way up and a pleasant descent through the forest.

Leurtza peaks and lakes from Urrotz
A superb hike with four peaks over 1000 m, two superb lakes and also a dolmen, a menhir, an ancient Roman road, all in a protected natural setting.
Roncesvalles loop via Burguete
A beautiful loop around the hospitable center of Roncesvalles, an important stage in the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.Roncesvalles is called Roncesvalles in Castilian, or Orreaga in Basque.
The route passes through the village of Auritz (in Basque) or Burguete (in Castilian).
Otsondottiki from Urdax
This loop is known as SL-NA-15 Otsondottiki. It climbs from the Urdax monastery to the Otsondottiki Pass on a forestry route.
Otsondottiki means little Otsondo in Basque, the Col d'Otsondo (pass) being situated a little higher up.
The white and green markers are clearly visible and the route is unambiguous.
The route is not particularly difficult.
Bianditz loop from Artikutxa park
A magnificent loop through the Artikutxa park, taking in the splendour of the beech forest and the panoramic view of the Navarre mountains via Bianditz.
The Aritzmendi circular route from Bera de Bidassoa.
The climb up the south face of Aritzmendi allows you to hike in the sun, apart from the beautiful forest sections.
The view from the top is magnificent, with a 360° panorama of mountains and ocean.
Kopako Harria from Lake Endara
A circular walk that passes over the summit of Kopako Harria and overlooks Lake Endara.
Tres Mugas from El Paso
A loop to climb the Tres Mugas, the highest point in the Bardenas Reales, then pass the foot of Puy Águila.
Castillo de Peñaflor
Situated in the Bardenas Reales desert, this castle is said to have served, according to legend, as a prison for Doña Blanca of Navarre, who is said to have refused the husband chosen for her by her father, Juan II of Aragon.
Narbalatz pass loop from Etxalar
A beautiful hike from a delightful Basque-Spanish village over the passes, with magnificent views on both sides of the border.
Irubelakaskoa from the Otxondo Pass
For those familiar with the Irubelkaskoa route from the Basasagarra farm, this hike is much easier.
The road leading to the start from the Otxondo Pass already offers magnificent views.
The hike passes through a beautiful forest and continues along grassy paths, arriving – as is often the case in the Basque Country – at the summit with a 360° view. The return route follows a ridge line to Gorramakil and then Gorramendi for those wishing to extend the hike, with splendid views of all the peaks throughout. For this hike, I joined the track at the Otanarteko Pass.

A lovely circular route starting from the village of Azpilkueta via the Atxuela Pass.
The Moulin d'Enfer and the GR®11 loop from Etxebertzeko Borda
A beautiful hike through a forest of oak, beech and spruce.Here, green dominates.There are many sights to see, including a beautifully renovated mill and lime kilns that bear witness to Navarre's history.At the top of the hike, a beautiful view of the Basque country on the French side, and of the sea if the sky is clear.
Antsestegi and Lizartzu from Otxondo
A lovely hike which, despite a reasonable elevation gain, will allow you to admire many of the Basque Country’s key peaks and, on a clear day, offer you a breathtaking view of the coast.

The Millennium Oak from Zugarramurdi, short version
Set off from a charming village of witches to discover a majestic oak tree.
Urdiki, Apaola and Oianberri from Arantza
A very lovely walk in the heart of nature, with only the sounds of wildlife. For almost the entire route, there are impressive views of the surrounding peaks, including Mendaur, the Trois Couronnes, La Rhune, etc.
Goizamendi, Antsestegi and Lizartzu from Lizarmeaka (Otxondo)
A beautiful circular route along the ridges from Otxondo offering panoramic views of the Baztan Valley, then the Gorra range and the peaks of the Basque Country. At Lizartzu, you can visit the three caves, remnants of the Franco era. On the return journey, you’ll discover the western slope, with the Côte Basque, La Rhune, Atxuria and the jewel of the Baztan, Alkurruntz.
Moulin de l'Enfer and Palacio de Azkolegi
A lovely walk through the heart of the Bastan valley, starting from the Etchebertzekoborda restaurant and passing by the beautifully restored “Moulin de l’Enfer” and the Palacio de Aizkolegi (at the top of the Bertiz estate).
Great loop via the Trinidad ridges from Lumbier
This loop from Lumbier takes you to a hermitage, a ridge trail with fine views, two mineral arches and the Foz de Lumbier. An alternative to the small loop starting from the paying car park at Foz de Lumbier, the first part of which is not very interesting.
This hike is for experienced hikers only.
Pic d'Orhy from Port de Larrau
An accessible short hike allowing you to climb Pic d'Orhy, the first peak to reach 2,000 metres above sea level from the Atlantic Ocean and the highest point in Soule. Magnificent views of the surrounding Basque Country and the high peaks of the Pyrenees.
The Cabezo de Castildetierra
A short walk around one of the most remarkable sites in the Bardenas Reales, a very arid area in the south-west of the Autonomous Community of Navarre.
Legate from Lekaroz (Baztan)
Legate (870 m) is one of the most picturesque peaks in the Baztan valley. Located to the North of Elizondo, the view from the summit is 360°, with Askolegi dominating the Bertiz park. Below, a majestic calvary leads the way back to the hamlet of Lekaroz.
Erentzu and Intzola Circular Loop
A circular route that takes in the restaurants on the border between Ziburumendi and Errentzazu.
Gorramendi and Gorramakil
Beautiful walk on the ridges between the Gorramendi and Gorramakil peaks, with a magnificent view of the Baztan valley and, on the other side, the Pyrenees.
Not very difficult, it can be done with the whole family.

A leisurely hike through a charming village, forest and stream.
Xorroxin waterfall from Erratzu
It's a hike for the whole family through forests and past streams, with the reward being the superb Cascade de Xorroxin, source of the Baztan-Bidassoa river... and perhaps the discovery of the treasure guarded by the lamias beneath the waterfall.
Adi ascent
The Adi overlooks the Urepel valley and the Quinto Real, which belonged to the kings of Navarre. The inhabitants paid a grazing fee corresponding to one-fifth of the herds, the quint.Currently reduced to 2,000 ha on the French side, but belonging to Spain, only the families of Saint-Étienne de Baïgorry have use of it. Herd owners pay a grazing fee (vacade) for each animal. This is why a fence marks the boundary of the Quinto Real.

A beautiful circular route for visiting Petite Rhune (Larrun Ttiki) and passing close to Venta Yasola.La Rhune will be visible above us.

A beautiful walk in the undergrowth that still allows you to discover the surrounding peaks.

Anglet Accueille hike (guide Richard)
The mountain range south of Zugarramurdi offers modest peaks in terms of altitude but with interesting panoramic views. Today's hike, which is new, invites you to make short ascents of five of them: Mendibil, Airagarri, Atxuria, Aizparaz and Arleun.
