Description of the walk

To get there: from the NA-134, take the “Arguedas Este” exit. A few hundred metres further on, turn right onto a road running perpendicular to the main road (towards “Bandenas Reales Natural Park”). After just over a kilometre, you’ll reach a T-junction. Turn right (towards “Bandenas Reales”). Five kilometres further on, you’ll reach the Bardenas Reales Information Centre. Continue straight ahead; just after this, you can stop at a car park to enjoy a panoramic view of the Bardenas Reales. One kilometre further on, you’ll see an information board about the park’s trails; opposite, an unpaved track begins – take this and follow it for three and a half kilometres. You’ll arrive at the car park next to Cabezo de Castildetierra.

(S/E) From the car park, cross the track and admire the Cabezo. A sign (in Spanish) explains the formation of this site. Take the path to the left of the building behind this sign. Continue to the edge of a small canyon, where a sign indicating "paseo peatonal" shows a way down into the canyon.

(1) Follow the canyon northwards, pass at the foot of the Cabezo and continue to the point where the track for cars crosses the canyon.

(2) Take the track to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

Notes

No water sources or shade.
Do not approach the hilltop and do not cross the barriers under any circumstances.
Do not undertake this walk in the event of rain or a storm. As the ground is very clayey, water quickly turns it into a muddy quagmire.

The starting point is not clearly marked: the ‘paseo peatonal’ sign was missing. Look out, therefore, for a path behind the site information board that leads down into the canyon: it is short and steep, so take care as it is slippery, and continue along the canyon as described.
The walk is pleasant and allows you to go round the hill, offering a more dramatic perspective and a deeper view.
It is short and it is very hot there

A short walk through the shallow canyon at the foot of the iconic Bardenas Blancas
Well worth doing to see the area from different angles and explore the labyrinthine canyon and its various features. Very easy

A very short route that takes you around this iconic rock in the Bardenas and allows you to see it from angles other than the usual postcard view.
I recommend it.

Hello everyone.
I’ve downloaded your maps with a view to going for walks this summer with my son, so I don’t have any feedback to offer at the moment. I’ll be sure to send you our feedback after our trips.
Kind regards.
