Description of the walk

Start: To get to the start, cross the border at Béhobie and take the N-121A towards Pamplona (Iruña in Basque). After 12 Km, exit at Lesaka and turn right onto the NA-4000 towards Lesaka and Oiartzun. The road passes by the lake. Parking is in front of the Ola Berri restaurant.

(S/E) Go back a few dozen metres on the restaurant access road and take the first left-hand path marked White and Red. This is a section of the GR®11 that joins a cement road.

(1) Cross the road, pass under the power line and climb north along the ridge line to the summit.

(2) Continue north and descend through the grass. The path is not really marked out. Take a few switchbacks to reach the edge of the wooded area, where you'll find a path to continue north until you come to a carriage road.

(3) Turn left onto the carriage road, which forks first.

(4) Take the left-hand hairpin bend at the crow's feet, the path twists and turns several times, then follows the contours along a stream and finally crosses the stream to rejoin the cemented GR®11.

(5) Turn left onto the GR®11 which leads up to the lake.

(6) Cross over to the sidewalk of the N-4000 and continue on the GR®11 towards the Hermitage of San Antón on the lakeshore.

(7) Turn left towards the Ola Berri restaurant and reach the parking area (S/E).

No interest at all. Difficult and impossible to find after the summit.

A very good hike to the summit with great views, but most of the descent is on paths that are no longer maintained and are of little visual interest. The GPS helped us find our way back. I wouldn't recommend it for senior citizens or young children.
We then went round the lake to extend the hike, but the lake itself is not particularly interesting.

Very nice hike, lovely views. A short section with no tracks but with a GPS and a map no problem. A pleasure to do again. Good visiorando route

It was a rainy walk, but the views were magnificent and we were lucky enough to see the different species of birds of prey and vultures that live in the area!

At point 2, the path is no longer visible; head back down towards the forest where you'll find another path.

hello rando top
from the French Basque Country, it's best to go via Oiartzun
after point 4 it is better to continue straight on
the route is sometimes a bit complicated but thanks to Visorando and the GPS

A lovely, shady walk. The descent after the summit is steep and through heather, so it's best to wear trousers. There are no signposts, but you can rest assured with the app.
If you're coming from the Basque Coast, it's quicker to go via Oiartzun, and you don't have to go over the pass. If the restaurant is closed, there's another a little further on towards Oiartzun.

A superb hike in a little-frequented area.
It was very hot (31°C), but most of the route is shaded.
The ascent to the summit was straightforward, but the descent was more problematic: steep and trackless, in ferns (wear trousers!). Without the app, remember to bring a compass.
At point 3: take the leftmost track, which is blocked at the start by a large falling tree.
At point 4: the signposted path has completely disappeared (at least for the first few hundred metres), but the path that loops round to the north is very practicable and only slightly longer.

Beautiful walk in the middle of the vegetation. It's a good thing we were following the route on the app, as the path is not at all signposted and in some places has not been cleaned up at all.
