Gorramendi and Gorramakil

Beautiful walk on the ridges between the Gorramendi and Gorramakil peaks, with a magnificent view of the Baztan valley and, on the other side, the Pyrenees.
Not very difficult, it can be done with the whole family.

Description of the walk

Start: Take the N121B from Dantcharia towards Col d'Otxondo.
At the pass, take the road on the left towards Gorramendi, which crosses a Canadian barrier. Reach the starting point at the orientation table on the right-hand side of the road.

(S/E) Take the trail up to the Alto Aizpitza antennae
Note: There's no need to follow the trail - it's just as easy to go straight up.

(1) Go right around the installations. Go downhill a little to climb up to Gorramendi.
Pass a number of cromlechs marked by a post. Go straight up the grassy slope. Pass fenced-in areas on the right.
Reach the summit of Gorramendi, marked by a small antenna.

(2) Continue North-East. You'll need to head further east to get back down to the pass separating the two summits.
Go straight up to Otanarte, where you'll find a large antenna and a building.

(3) Continue Eastwards. Descend almost to the level of the road.
Go straight up, avoiding a loop in the road. Reach the summit of Gorramakil.

(4) Go back down to the road and take it to the right to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

The Baztan valley is magnificent from above, but it's also worth a detour below.

In fact, this hike is not at all difficult. However, you need to do it on a day with good visibility, otherwise it's not very interesting...
We did it in 2 hours (without children).
