From Dantxaria, climb to the Otxondo Pass, descend 300 m and take the first right towards the NA-4453. Use the car park serving the picnic area.
(S/E) Follow the small path northwards to the Col d'Otxondo. Cross the road and follow the Gorramendi road for about 100 m.
(1) Turn left onto a dirt track that leads into the forest and up to the ridge. Follow the ridge straight on to Goizamendi (677 m).
(2) Continue along the ridge past the hunting posts and descend to a pass where you come across a wide track.
(3) Cross the track and head north-east up the path that joins the ridge. Follow the ridge until you reach another track, which you cross, keeping a north-easterly direction and leaving a wide track on your right. Reach the summit of Meatzetako Bizkarra.
(4) Continue north-east, cross a track and carry on in the same direction. Reach the summit of Ansestegi by skirting the rocky outcrop to the right.
(5) Follow the ridge for a good hundred metres, then turn left (north-west) to descend to the pass.
(6) Continue due north and join a wide track leading to a new pass.
(7) Turn right and climb north-east up the grassy slope towards the summit of Lizartzu. Turning right just below the summit, you’ll reach the three observation tunnels from the Civil War.
(8) Head northwards and reach the summit of Lizartzu.
(9) Descend northwards, then turn left (north-west) to reach the pass below. Continue in the same direction along a small descending ridge to a flat area.
(10) Turn left and descend along the fairly wide path for about 750 m to an abandoned barn.
(11) Go round the hut on the right and head down towards the west on a narrow path that is barely visible due to the vegetation. After crossing the stream, continue along this path towards the west, then south. Walk past a building and arrive at a track junction.
(12) Head down to the right onto the track that serves several houses. This track becomes passable by vehicle and passes close to a waterfall.
(13) Follow this track until you reach the junction you passed on the way up.
(3) Follow the outward route for about a hundred metres, then turn left to walk along the side of the Goizamendi ridge. Join the ascent path and follow it to the left until you reach the road.
(1) Follow the route back in the opposite direction to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
