Les Merles in Beauchastel
Discover the pretty village of Beauchastel and its surrounding hills, offering beautiful views of the Ardèche, the Vercors and the Rhône valley.
From the Via Rhôna to the gates of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park.
This route will take you along the entire length of the Payre cycle path, which starts in Pouzin and ends in Privas, the gateway to the Monts d'Ardèche Natural Park. The route starts from the car park in the small village of Les Petits Robins, near the Rhône. You will cycle part of the way along the Via Rhôna to Le Pouzin, which you will cross, before rejoining the La Peyre cycle path on the outskirts of the village.
Around La Voulte-sur-Rhône
La Voulte-sur-Rhône, a town of around 5,000 inhabitants located in Ardèche on the banks of the Rhône, gateway to the Eyrieux valley, has listed historical remains, including the castle, the Chapelle des Princes, the Fontaine Giroud, and the foundry site with four blast furnaces.Architectural assets include the first prestressed concrete railway viaduct built in France. The suspension bridge spanning the Rhône connects to Livron.Here you are at the crossroads of two greenways, the Via Rhôna and the Dolce Via.
Château de Pierre Gourde and Serre de Meran
From Saint-Laurent-du-Pape, this pleasant hike to the ruins of Pierre Gourde Castle offers a beautiful overview of the Ardèche: the route is almost exclusively along ridges, with magnificent views of the Eyrieux Valley, the Ardèche Mountains, the Rhône Valley and the Vercors.
Please note: some steep and rugged climbs before reaching the château and, above all, the ascent of the Serre de Girbaud may discourage some hikers. It is not advisable to do the hike in reverse!
On the hillsides of La Voulte-sur-Rhône and the Col des Viaux
This hike will take you to the heights of La Voulte-sur-Rhône, an Ardèche village located at the intersection of three valleys: Rhône, Eyrieux and Ouvèze, with its hilltop church and castle. This route is not difficult, with an uphill section at the beginning and a downhill section at the end of the walk. The ridges offer beautiful views, particularly of the Trois Becs, the Vercors and the Rhône.The return journey is mainly on small, quiet tarmac roads, which makes the descent easy but may discourage some hikers.
Château de Pierre Gourde
Hike leading to the ruined castle of Pierre Gourde, one of the highest points in the region, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
The lands and hamlets of Pierregourde Castle
A beautiful, long hike combining history and nature. Passing through numerous ancient hamlets that were under the authority of the Lord of Pierregourde, you will reach the ruins of the old seigneurial castle, perched on top of a rocky peak over 600 metres high.
A short detour to the wild summit of Serre de Girbaud offers a superb 360° panorama of the Rhône and Eyrieux valleys.
Gilhac-et-Bruzac: for lovers of wild mountain landscapes
Not for those allergic to tarmac!
A pleasant and varied hike, some sections of which follow small tarmac roads, as is often the case in the Ardèche. The first part takes place in the forest, where only birdsong disturbs the peace and quiet of the area. The second part follows theGR®42andGR®42Btrails, offering beautiful views of the Ardèche mountains, the Vernoux valley and the Rhône valley.
Pierregourde Castle is very close to this circuit.

Crête du Brézème - From the confluence to Les Ramières
From the ramparts to the Drôme, this hike will allow you to discover the hilltop village of Old Livron, the panorama of Mont Rôti and, at the water's edge, the Ramières Nature Reserve.
The Vizier's Hill and the banks of the Drôme
A pleasant trail on the heights of the old village of Livron allows you to discover a small chapel hidden in the woods, the Tour du Diable watching over the Drôme and beautiful panoramic views of the southern Vercors. The return trip is peaceful along the banks of the Drôme.
Cul de Drôme
A flat hike along the Drôme to its mouth at the Rhône. Discover unspoilt nature with its fields, hedges and pretty paths along the dykes. You will see the fish pass, the Viarhona cycle route, swans, great cormorants and more.
Avoid in winter when there are strong north winds.
Nero's Cave in Soyons
A family walk that takes you along the peaceful but wild banks of the Rhône to the Malpas plateau overlooking the town of Soyons.
Guercy Greenhouse, Soyons Leaning Tower via Nero's Cave

The Telegraph in Étoile-sur-Rhône
The route starts on the banks of the Véore, crosses the village of Étoile-sur-Rhône and then climbs to the heights to see the telegraph, the ancestor of our telecommunications.
Le Vieux Rompon and the balconies of the Ouvèze
Discover the ruins of the Couvent des Chèvres overlooking the Rhône valley and then the hamlet of Vieux Rompon. The return trail is a pleasant walk along the cliffs above the Ouvèze with magnificent views.
Le Serre du Gouvernement at Pouzin
This is a very pleasant walk that quickly takes you to the Grads plateau, which overlooks Pouzin and the confluence of the Ouvèze and Rhône rivers. The path overlooking the Ouvèze valley is very pleasant but may be vertiginous for some. The ridges offer a beautiful panoramic view of the Baronnies and the Vercors.
Never stray from the route, which is now very well marked.
