Park in the free car park at Port de l’Épervière.
(S/E) Take the cycle path southwards, then turn left just before the bridge. Stay on the cycle path after the Mauboule car park, pass the two green barriers and follow the cycle signs. Cross the bridge over the motorway and arrive at a roundabout.
(1) Stay on the cycle path, to the left of the roundabout, and take the exit that goes under a bridge. Carry straight on, go under another bridge and reach a junction with a central reservation to the right of the cycle path.
(2) Turn left (Route de Chantecouriol), pass the laundrette on your left, and ride carefully, keeping well to the right. Follow this road until you reach a roundabout.
(3) Go round the roundabout and join the cycle lane. Stay on it until the next roundabout.
(4) Leave the cycle path and take the street that veers left (Rue Jules Guesde), then continue along Rue Denis Diderot towards the school complex. Follow the railway tracks to the end of Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
(5) Turn right, then immediately left, to follow the route marked by green cycle route no. 15 , so you can cross the junction safely. Then turn right onto Rue Paul Vaillant Couturier (sign prohibiting vehicles over 3.5 tonnes). Continue along the railway tracks and, after about 400 m, take the protected path to the Porte-Les-Valence exit. Continue along the road, cross the bridge over the motorway and arrive at a large junction (N7).
(6) Cross with great care. At the next junction, turn right onto Chemin du Pas de la Véore, then left onto Chemin des Josserands.
(7) Cross the Véore bridge, then, at the Stop sign, turn right onto Chemin de Maringasse and join Chemin de Halage.
(8) Continue left, towards ViaRhôna Montélimar. At the crossroads, Chemin de Beauchastel, turn right, then left onto Chemin de Saint-Pierre.
(9) At the four-way junction, turn right onto Chemin Creux, then immediately left onto Chemin d’Arthaud. Continue along this road until you reach Chemin de Bressac.
(10) Follow it to the left, still following the green signposts. Cross the bridge over the River Véore and turn right onto the D215 (Route de Fiancey). Join Chemin de Gary on the right.
(11) Take this road, then at the cross-cutting dirt track, continue left, following a branch of the Rhône on your right until you reach a crossroads.
(12) Turn left and follow the embankment on your right (in the event of flooding, walk along the top of the embankment). At No. 375, ignore the left-hand lane and carry straight on until you reach a Stop sign at the end of Rue du Rhône.
(13) Turn right, cross the village of Les Petits Robins and continue on the D215 until you reach the roundabout. Take thesecond exit onto the D86, heading towards Livron, and continue to the next junction.
(14) Leave the D86 and head straight on towards La Massette. Cross the bridge under the railway line and join Chemin de la Massette. Turn left towards Domazane, then immediately right at the corner of house no. 855.
(15) Enter Les Buis on your right. Continue straight on, past the school, and follow the sign for the Vélodrome. On leaving the village, turn right onto Chemin de Volte and join Chemin de la Drôme on the left.
(16) Take this path (gravel track), then head onto the wide track on the right and join the ViaRhôna, a few metres from the confluence of the Drôme and the Rhône
(17) Ignore the footbridge crossing the River Drôme and keep right at the three-way junction that follows to reach the River Rhône, with the canal on your left.
(18) At the car park, cross the bridge on the left, then follow the dam and continue along the ViaRhôna, which runs northwards along the Rhône. Reach the next road bridge over the river.
(19) Cross it and arrive at La Voulte. Just after the bridge, turn left, following the green markings of the cycle path. Walk safely alongside the D86 heading due south, then cross the road before the roundabout using the pedestrian crossing and rejoin the cycle path, heading north. Then go under the bridge and leave La Voulte, heading back up along the riverbank. Reach the bridge over the Eyrieux.
(20) Use the pedestrian crossing to cross the bridge over the river and turn right at the exit to follow the opposite bank towards Valence. Follow the cycle path southwards, then turn north to follow the Rhône water supply canal.
(21) Ride past the Beauchastel Hydroelectric Power Station and continue to a crossroad.
(22) Turn right, behind the protective wall, then cross to the left at the end of the bridge over the Embroye to join the Route du Plan d’Eau on the left bank of the river. Follow this road to a fork, about ten metres before a level crossing. Ignore it and head right to the junction by the football pitch.
(23) First turn left then right and follow the railway line (Chemin des Cerisiers) for 1.2 km until you reach a level crossing. Turn right and arrive at the edge of the woods (signpost indicating the greenway).
(24) Continue left, heading north, until you reach a junction with a ‘Give Way’ sign.
(25) Take a sharp right-hand bend, then turn left 200 m further on. At the four-way junction that follows, take thesecond right-hand track almost directly opposite, then keep left as you leave the woods. Reach the riverbank and follow it along the right-hand bank. Cycle until you find Chemin des Acacias on the right.
(26) Follow it towards Lônes, cross the bridge over the Lône stream, then, under the road bridge, continue left onto Chemin du Ruisseau. You’ll come to a junction near a car park.
(27) Head left, go under the road bridge, then take the cycle path on the right a few metres further on. Ride for about a hundred metres, then take the hairpin bend onto the cycle path. Cross the bridge over the Rhône safely and head down to the road tunnel below. Turn right to go back under the road and rejoin the Via Rhôna and the route taken at the start. Turn left at the Mauboule car park and head back the way you came, following the path to the Port de l’Épervière car park (S/E).
