(S/E) From the car park, head to the starting sign opposite No. 16 on the Montée du Château (next to the PMU). With your back to the first sign, turn left onto the Montée du Château to arrive in front of the town hall.
(1) Turn right onto Rue des Princes to walk alongside the old ramparts. Very soon, turn left onto Rue de l’Église, which begins with a flight of steps. After the first flight, leave the street on your left and climb a few more steps to reach the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
Continue up the steps opposite, which are overgrown with grass, then follow a path (Montée de Pete-Rosse) which leads onto a tarmac road (Montée du Château). Look out for a wayside cross on the left, set on a raised platform.
Turn left onto the road which descends steeply. Pass by another wayside cross situated at the rear of the church to arrive in front of the Nouveau Château (retirement home) on your right. A few more steps will take you to the town hall, which you saw on the way out.
(1) Walk down for about twenty metres until you reach the bakery, then turn right in front of it to follow Rue du Lavoir, which leads… to the public washhouse! Turn right just after the washhouse to arrive in front of the Maison du Lac. Enter the park, then follow the path on the left which runs alongside a small canal.
(2) At the end of the lawn, turn right and follow the promenade along the lake. Pass a sign explaining how the name changed from Lavache to Beauvallon, then walk past the tennis courts to reach the end of the lake. Complete the loop via the only path running alongside it to reach a wooden footbridge at the other end. Turn left onto this footbridge and follow the path back to the front of the Maison du Lac. Turn right and leave the park to reach the car park (S/E).
